Neurodiversity and pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder - factor in ROGD?

Came across this article today and it made me wonder how much this might be a factor in why so many autistic and neurodiverse young women are suddenly rejecting their sex at or around puberty.

Thank you my daughter has PMDD and she suspects strongly ADHD but no diagnosis. Genuine question though - how does it relate to rejecting your sex?

It just seemed interesting that the correlation between PMDD and ND was so high, in light of the fact that ND girls are over represented in the exploding numbers of girls declaring a trans identity. I could see how feeling so miserable because of a female bodily function might lead to body hatred and rejection. Perhaps it’s just me!

That's interesting OP.
PMDD disproportionately affects people with ADHD and autism, with up to 92% of autistic women and 46% of women with ADHD experiencing PMDD, though estimates vary

Menstruation is such an obvious factor in the development of girls I can see it could also be a factor in the desire to transition. Would be interesting to consider the link (that will now be possible if there is a team of specialists treating gender incongruence)

@stilldumdedumming I agree with you. How many women are told to "stop complaining, it's only a period?" When they are doubled over in pain? Or they feel dreadful every month for a week?

I am ND (but not diagnosed till I was an adult) and being a teenagers was very hard. You trying desperately to fit in and and you can't figure out why you don't.

Add in changes in your body, particularly periods, which you find even harder and society is telling you "it's natural, why are you complaining?" Is it surprising that some teenage girls question their sex as a result?
