Super mum calendars

I need a rant. What kind of bulls**t are these calendars. We just get lumbered with the blatant assumption we will organise and do everything - it drives me nuts. They should make the equivalent dad calendar, where there's no room to write anything except details of sporting matches and when the car is due for MOT 🙈🙈🙈

It's like a bloody spreadsheet, but for your actual real life! 😂

JellySaurus · 09/11/2022 21:02

Except for being covered in flowers. How many men would buy that?

Yeah, still aimed at stereotypes of the person who usually carries the domestic load.

But TBH you don't really see the floral decoration when the calendar hangs open in use. It's quite bland.

Dh likes it and uses it. He's a systems engineer, and can't resist a spreadsheet or a Gant chart Grin

That’s an odd looking crack pipe?

And this is why I fucking love Mumsnet

ilovesushi · 09/11/2022 21:23

Love my family wall planner. Even the dog has a column with daycare, agility, flyball and worming tablets listed. I need it mainly to figure out logistics of who is dropping off or picking up who when and where. I have the same one as posters up thread. I don't fancy the blonde lady on crack one, but it has a ring of truth to it.

Blister · 09/11/2022 21:30

Oof. Outlook for the win. I send an invitation to husband's calendar for whatever he needs to be aware of and he does the same for me.

I plan to do the same for the kids.

Coconutmeg · 09/11/2022 21:49

I’m a feminist BUT: I clicked on the thread expecting it to be a good family planner I could buy. Read the OP and thought yeah hang on a min why’s it MY job Angry
But then happy to see links to good family planners I can purchase

Complicated, mixed feelings Grin

ColeensBoot · 09/11/2022 21:56

Mums office do good planners. Also known as blox planners. Uses a grid system, love it

OrangePomander · 09/11/2022 22:30

Believe me, ours is nothing exciting. It’s mostly dentist, hairdresser, vet, parents’ evening most of the time.

Whatsleftnow · 09/11/2022 22:36

I can’t find the one that comes with the crack. Could someone post a link please? I’m not going to be able to operate a calendar without crack.

dementedpixie · 09/11/2022 22:36

I normally get the Hedgehugs or the Boofle family organiser A3 calendar. A column for each of the 4 of us and an extra one for the bin cycle as its complex Grin. Hangs in my kitchen so everyone can see what's going on.

TheForests · 10/11/2022 09:08

Google calendar is the way forward

bge · 10/11/2022 12:30

My DH is obsessed with planners (I prefer to forget things). He always buys the nice manly RNLI one

shop.rnli.org/products/2023-jackie-gale-family-organiser-calendar

bge · 10/11/2022 12:32

We have a column for the cat (she goes to the vet frequently) and a column for bins

ColeensBoot · 10/11/2022 12:39

I love a paper planner. Blox diary changed my life. But now with a family we use a Microsoft outlook family calendar that's on our phones. The reminders come up on Alexa, and you can put diary things in it with Alexa. No more- only mum knows what's going on- in this house

JellySaurus · 30/11/2022 12:21

Uggh. This year's planner is gaudy with flowers. Both unnecessarily gender stereotyped and visually excessive. How annoying. Still have to get it, as it's the only one with almost enough columns.

simonthedog · 30/11/2022 12:26

I agree google calendar. It is plain and send you messages every morning to tell you what you are supposed to be doing.
