Help for gender critical women in Canada

As I’m sure people are aware, institutional capture by trans ideologues is very entrenched in Canada. Unlike in the UK and now America, there seems to be very little organised resistance here (Canada). I know there are other gc’s here, but have no idea how to connect with them. My workplace is fervently behind gender ideology (mostly staffed by women) & the stern assumption is that All Good People say twaw etc.

My sister thinks I’m being hyperbolic (she called “Irreparable Damage” an “inflammatory title”), my son told me confidently that JK Rowling “donates to anti-abortion groups”, and my friends are starting to see my point (as they hadn’t considered women in single sex spaces and safety, for example, or women in sports), but don’t feel any urgency around it, and 3 friends have teenagers who have transitioned (unusually perhaps it’s one girl and two boys, rather than the more common reverse numbers).

So it can feel quite isolating and I’m wondering if anyone can point me to Canadian women’s groups as I haven’t been able to find any (just one fb group and they only support gc’s who are also always and only left wing - for me this issue supersedes the necessity for right-think in others in other subject areas).

Nothing useful to add except to say commiserations.

I think it is the speed it happened. Like a virus. You didn't stand a chance.

By the time I woke up to it here it had already embedded in Canada.

I used to admire Canada. I could imagine shit like this happening in the US but not in Canada. All the Canadians I've met have been laid back and pragmatic.

Ideologies always fail eventually though and if elsewhere wakes up it won't last as an enclave.

Imagine a whole country thinking its progressive to think pink and blue brains or gendered souls exist. It boggles my mind.

Hope you find the resistance.

I'm sorry, OP. I watch Canada with horror.

Maybe this thread will be a start. Flowers

Kelly Jay did say she would love to go to Canada but I suspect that is a way away. Hope you find other people soon. Joining some of the Women's Declaration online webinars (Feminist Question Time) might help you connect. They had a Canadian speaker last week.

I believe everything is on you tube so you can watch it.

Thanks @ArabellaScott I’ll check out that link. And @Baaaaaa the things I could say about work and how the ideology is affecting kids … it’s so upsetting.

I don’t want to give too much personal info, but I recently had an interaction with a woman at work who is above me in the hierarchy. She was saying things about a gc feminist that made me very uncomfortable and I wonder if it becomes necessary to deal with the personal stress if it would get me anywhere to use their language and say I felt “unsafe”. I don’t have the stamina of a Maya Forstater, (health issues and domestic and workplace bullying have done a number on me) but I hope that someone rises up and confronts this institutional capture through the courts.

Well, you have Amy Hamm!

GrinitchSpinach · 04/11/2022 19:00

Hi Rita,

I am in the US so not an expert on Canada, but as far as I know caWsbar is the main resistance org there:

www.cawsbar.ca

Amy Eileen Hamm, the BC nurse who is facing proceedings for her views on sex atm, is on their steering committee. So are Heather Mason, the advocate for incarcerated women, and Linda Blade, the coach and activist for fairness and safety in women's sports. I am not familiar with the other committee members, but these three are pretty great!

I have also met a lovely woman from WDI Canada, which Arabella recommended above, and am a big fan of WDI in general.

Thanks @FemaleAndLearning and thanks @GrinitchSpinach for the new link. Lately I’ve been finding it more stressful that as women in the UK are making progress Canada just seems to get more and more firmly attached to the ideology. Pronouns in the workplace, transing children and teens (I’ve personally seen both socially transitioning and work with a young woman who is now on hormones, her voice is scratchy, a bit deep, and she has a hair chest, more and more bathrooms are “gender neutral”, drag queen story hour at the libraries. It’s all so sad and worrying.
