Title says it all. The following post on linked in has received positive comments from some pretty senior people in large companies. Sone of whom I worked with and respected. I just don’t understand it. These are often women working in diversity and inclusion.

it’s not that I disagree with the posters ‘focus’ topics. But I totally disagree with gender neutral toilets.
Am I wrong in agreeing and wanting a female only space/toilets? This doesn’t make me anti trans surely?

Gender neutral to me means ANYONE could use them. So trans men, but also men.
Personally I wouldn’t be happy with either using the space. (Men piss everywhere! I’m more comfortable without men whilst I’m removing clothes, changing pads, etc etc. for various reasons, I believe it is a safeguarding risk for female adults and girls to have this space invaded).

it seems as though everyone wants to jump on the ‘totally agree’, ‘what a great post’ bandwagon.

I really want to post something to disagree but honestly, can’t be dealing with the backlash (especially whilst job hunting). But, IT SHOULDNT BE LIKE THIS. 🥲

sickening. Rapists are opportunists and he's not putting himself at any more risk by giving autogynephiles more opportunity in the very setting that turns them on.

TroublesomeLuck · 27/10/2022 21:32

It's really hard, isn't it. My own way of responding to it would be something like.... "I'm not sure it's quite so simple (and I'm far from a Kimi fan). I am absolutely passionate that no one should be discriminated about, whatever their sexuality / gender. But with a 10 year old daughter, I'm also really passionate that she should be able to go into the ladies toilets and feel totally safe - and I'm not sure she'd feel safe around someone who has only just decided they are identifying as a man, no matter how nice they are. Surely the answer is that we provide some sort of option for people who want to use a single cubicle, for whatever reason that might be? I just don't think it's quite as simple as saying that if people want single sex spaces, they are transphobic."

Well LinkedIn is full of morons

Pidgythe2nd · 27/10/2022 22:09

@Buffypaws 😂yes… I’m absolutely starting to think this!
Im sure it never used to be so bad.
I’m just genuinely surprised that people who I thought could think logically, are falling for this drivel.

Yes, I'm always very surprised how many people have pronouns in their bios too on LinkedIn.

FemaleAndLearning · 27/10/2022 22:27

I only use Linked In for work so wouldn't comment myself. Why do people need to be political on Linked In?

TurtleTatt · 27/10/2022 22:37

Yeah - toilets are kind of a big deal for women, girls and people who menstruate. This is even without the risk of sexual assault:https://www.actionaid.org.uk/blog/2022/05/18/period-poverty-statistics-around-world

Toseland · 27/10/2022 22:43

Linkedin autofills your pronouns, you just have to click 'ok'

TurtleTatt · 27/10/2022 22:51

Facts on provision in the UK. https://fairplayforwomen.com/toilet-provision-in-the-uk/ . It isn’t just a minor issue for 51% of the population! I am fed up of staying quiet on issues like this. Can’t believe people ‘like’ the kind of crap you shared OP. Even if they didn’t want to challenge it, just ignore it!

Isn’t ‘pronouns’ and ‘bio’s’ a bit of an oxymoron for some of the special people 🤨 😉

The government recently conducted a consultation an the results (and following recommendations) are clear - www.gov.uk/government/news/all-public-buildings-to-have-separate-male-and-female-toilets

"The move follows a call for evidence which gathered a wide range of views, including from pregnant women, older people, disabled people and people who come under the protected characteristic of gender reassignment.

The rise in ‘gender neutral’ toilets raised safety concerns from women who feel they are losing privacy and being unfairly disadvantaged.

Separate unisex (or universal) toilets should be provided if there is space, but should not come at the expense of female toilets."
