Indirect discrimination in school policies

I've realised that the school dress code (non uniform school) that I haven't read since my kid started 7 years ago is indirectly discriminating against girls (mixed school). The principal won't be thrilled about being challenged on it but the members of the governors I know might be more open to discussing it. Any suggestions for how to go about constructively bringing this to the school, resources I can cite, etc?

Considering the length of skirts at some of our local secondaries, any shorts would provide more coverage.

They are dry clean only but I just wash them on delicates.

They are kilts.

They do have to be knee length but they were just below the knee in year seven and my tallest dd only reached the heady heights of five foot four so although they are now resting just above her knee in year eleven she just gives it a tug down to a Simon Cowell waist if there are any questions.

Honestly I couldn't get het up about this. Can't imagine you finding much support at governor level to worry about this 'discrimination'

Tbh when it comes to shorts, it's a pain to buy any nice ones that aren't too short in my eyes. I normally end up buying boys' . They're cheaper too .

Boys' shorts will fit the vast majority of primary aged girls. I wear some myself. Once boys' shorts don't fit then women's should if there isn't choice in girls'.
