My friends mid teens daughter announced she was bi sexual a while ago. No-one batted an eyelid. She's always dressed 'quirky' and is not stereotypical 'girly'. She is very bright, studious and likes to read. She aligns nicely in school with other girls who are like her.
She has now decided she is trans and wants to be a boy and wants to be known by a boys name.
I'm worried for her as she is probably a non girly girl who may be a lesbian but is being drawn into the trans 'solution' for her teenage angst.
If she is trans, that's absolutely fine but it would be great to signpost her to some great fiction and non fiction literature that is age appropriate and balanced on the matter.
I think it would be helpful if she could read about positive stories of being a woman that doesn't necessarily 'conform' and that is fine but she can still embrace her sex and not make decisions she likely isn't emotionally or neurologically mature enough to see through just yet.
Wise MN if you can advise and point us in the right direction id be grateful.

I am Malala. My 14 year old has read it (I've not yet). From what my daughter has told me you can't read that and not know that biology matters.
