International Lesbian Day: but not really

This morning's contribution from Wales OnLine — which is probably the place where most Welsh people get their news about Wales and has been captured for some years:

www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/arts-culture-news/international-lesbian-day-2022-its-25204263

Research also underlines just how important this day can be for some people. Most LGBT+ women identify as lesbian, with a survey involving 1884 LGBT+ women revealing that 72% identified as lesbian. LGBT+ people, and specifically LGBT+ lesbians according to the research, have experienced mental health issues. LGBT+ women are less visible than men, underlying the importance of a day that platforms and amplifies women within the community.

That'll include all the transbians — the middle-aged men with wives and children now identifying as lesbians — and TW's seeking relationships with men and the Q and + people.

Linda Riley, publisher of Diva magazine and great pal of Nancy Kelley and Ruth Hunt, who is up to her eyeballs deep in trans ideology (because it makes her money) says:
Lesbians need to be given space to be visible and shown to the world on our own terms. For too long, we have been fetishised by the heterosexual male gaze, as little more than the stuff of fantasy. At the same time, a small number of cis lesbians, whose opposition to the rights of our trans siblings has become ever louder and more toxic, have led some to believe that the lesbian community is not an inclusive space. I can assure you that for the vast majority of us, this is not the case. That's why I am so committed to celebrating all under the LGBTQI umbrella."

I'm so angry at the whole charade. Is it any wonder that lesbian mental health is fragile if they can't go anywhere or do anything without the fucking TQ+ traipsing along to be included? If they can't hold a Lesbian Day event without including male-bodied people? It's despicable.

It’s funny how lesbian mental health fails to be front, centre and visible, isn’t it?

Not to mention the co tradition in terms between heterosexual fetishisation and needing to be inclusive.

A long item on woman’s hour yesterday talking about hate crime and guess what was focussed on? The word lesbian or woman wasn’t even mentioned, and suddenly gender identity people are the real sufferers.

pattihews · 08/10/2022 09:51

Yes, Riley mentions that lesbians have suffered from male projection and fantasy and then goes on to insist they must include men who say they are women... She has not respect for lesbians: we're just a way of making her money.

Yes I listened to that and was very much Hmm

She can’t even hear herself can she? Talking about lesbians being fetishised by the heterosexual male gaze while talking about allowing heterosexual males into lesbian spaces so they can fetishise them.

The absolute batshit absurdity of it all.

Hikingfan · 08/10/2022 09:54

We used to be maybe 2% of the general population? I've never been the majority in gay spaces before either. 72% is madness

Whatsnewpussyhat · 08/10/2022 09:58

It's like some bizarre satire when in the next breath lesbians are being told they are evil meanies for not welcoming those same straight men who fetishise lesbians into their 'community'.

A finer example of cognitive dissonance you are never likely to find!

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

Live4weekend · 08/10/2022 10:25

Does this not describe some 'lesbians' of Stonewalls description?

I was going to post exactly this.

Yes. Hard to miss this.

nilsmousehammer · 08/10/2022 11:28

we have been fetishised by the heterosexual male gaze

Which you actively make use of to make money, Linda.

I'm not a lesbian any more. I reject that label and the LGBT+infinity label, because at this point both represent a massive mess I want no association with.

I'm a homosexual adult female, who at this point is quite unbelievably fucked off with this entire circus.
