Came across this organisation a while ago and thought they were brilliant. Mentoring for young women. How great is that. Was considering volunteering with them myself but I see that they cater for girls ‘regardless of gender’

I mean. What kind of nonsense is that. I despair.

Well if it means gender (as in 'non binary') then great. But if it means they cater for girls regardless of their sex, then they can FOAD.

FrankTheThunderbird · 03/10/2022 16:45

I read that as them allowing trans-boys. Which is fair as trans-boys are female.

Apollo442 · 03/10/2022 16:48

Of course transboys are female. Let's hope.

bellinisurge · 03/10/2022 17:15

As long as it means biological females however they describe themselves. But we kind of know it doesn't, don't we? Head tilts and skirts going spinny

ColeensBoot · 03/10/2022 17:31

Yep I came across a great organization for women. Or anyone who identifies as a woman.

I had an actual phone call with them to determine why they were including non females when actually it's all female related support.

Be kind brainwashing was the only answer I got. I'm waiting for them to wake up and change to female only.
Depressing

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 03/10/2022 19:08

yeah girls (regardless of gender) is probably how I'd write it to avoid being aggressively GC and get the point of who it was aimed at

ColeensBoot · 03/10/2022 21:50

No need. Girls is enough.

HelnM · 18/03/2023 09:10

So my daughter who’s year 10 was invited to the Girls Network, from the off they said they support Trans

they won’t be getting my money to mentor her

ChateauMargaux · 18/03/2023 09:22

It sounds like girls, regardless of whether they identify as girls, non binary or trans so all females... I think they have the balance right on this one, given the context in which they are working.

OnTheThames · 18/03/2023 09:26

It includes boys who say they feel like girls. I’ve worked with this organisation before. Absolute nonsense, but this is so common now.

I have also worked with a charity that supports girls affected by gang violence and exploitation. They are now explicitly including boys who say they feel like girls in their remit. Why? Funding. The funding bodies are captured and if you aren’t ‘inclusive’ you don’t get the cash.

Beamur · 18/03/2023 09:31

If this is true (and I can see how it's very likely - definitely so in Scotland I think) then charities are over a barrel unless the Government changes the guidance around the Equality Act to make it clear the circumstances around which inclusion/exclusion is allowed.
To my mind girls of any gender is trans inclusive but means sex. Some charities/groups (depending on what they offer) may be of no interest to the other sex.

FemaleAndLearning · 18/03/2023 09:34

It is so sad that girls just can't have anything to themselves without a make being present. The funders need to be outed.

Write to the EHRC and ask for Section 23 order?
