Norwich City Council votes TWAW

On 29th September, Norwich City Council passed a motion that “trans women are women, trans men are men and non-binary people are non-binary”.

Proposed by Green Councillor Alex Catt, voted unanimously by Labour and Green Councillors, though a clause that would give transgender people priority in housing was defeated by Labour votes.

Alex Catt announced the vote in a tweet ending with the words “transphobic extremists [sic] are not welcome in Norwich”.

Norwich Women’s Rights Group on Twitter posted queries: how will it affect women-only swimming sessions at the council sports centres, especially for minority women; what about hostels for homeless women; will disabled women be able to specify intimate care by female carers, and so on.

A freedom of information request has already been submitted to find out what Equality Impact Assessment has been done.

Surprisingly, the Norwich Evening News, which has previously repeated unchallenged everything Cllr Catt tells them, actually reported that there have been some queries.

Gosh years after Leeds and London and Cardiff and Edinburgh declare TWAW Norfolk catches up — just as the rest of the UK realise that it's all bollocks. I think that's what's called Normal for Norfolk.

What happened in Leeds & Cardiff!

Cardiff is where the Welsh Government is based and the Welsh Government is total TWAW. Mark Drakeford and his team have blocked all polite requests from women's groups and lesbian groups for the last four years — and it's usually quite easy to arrange meetings with Welsh politicians. But not women who have an interest in women's rights. We're toxic, apparently. The whole situation is too toxic and upsetting for any member of the Welsh Labour cabinet to deal with. Sad to see Norwich going bonkers too.

Look forward to them declaring the earth is flat and making the wearing of tin foil hats compulsory.

Would be interesting to see which genders voted for and which voted against. And how many of the councillors had genders 🤔

I'll take your word for it, but I've heard a different story from women's groups trying to have a civilised conversation with anyone with influence. Lovely kind sweet Mark Drakeford has absolutely refused to sit down with concerned women. Lu Thomas and co are still the WG's go-to people for anything LGB and TQ+.

But we are not extremists, we are centralises. We think trans people should be treated with respect and dignity and have rights and protections in law,, but that you cannot change sex, and gender should not supercede sex in policy and law where sex matters

What do they define as extremists. So sick of this. When did it become no longer OK to just not agree but keep quiet. When did it become no longer OK to just not give a shit and not say anything.

When did it become compulsory to

Cllr Catt was elected saying his main priority was climate.
His every public pronouncement has been about transgender people.

NB = NB
Then why doesn't

TW = TW
TM = TM

And why are they excluding all the other gender identities? Why are they enforcing a gender binary (man/woman) with NB outside it?

These people break my brain. If you actually believe that biological sex doesn't exist and you're being wokely kind, you can't simply ignore the other genders. But if you believe that bio sex does exist (which you have to if you can even state TW or TM because it's sex based) then WTF is NB?

I used to think that "Trans women are women and trans men are men" was the most moronic slogan ever coined. But I had reckoned without the addition of "non-binary people are non-binary" which takes the moronicity to new depths.

I think this stuff will go into future psychology textbooks - and possibly history books - as an example of how far groupthink can drive people to idiocy. When councils pass motions, it's usually to carry out an action, eg spend more money on libraries, or introduce parking restrictions in the high street. Norwich city council have decided to pass a motion that contradicts a matter of fact. It's as if they'd decided to pass a motion that says "This council believes the earth is flat" or "This council believes that Virgoans are more temperamental than Scorpions." What do they hope to achieve, other than making complete fools of themselves?

It wasn't long ago when there was a judicial review on holding prayers in council meetings. TWAW is a belief and can't be imposed on others. Stupid absurd posturing. Think it's time to give the Raving Monster Looney Party a chance.
