Thanks Arabella, completely forgot to add link.
By the way seems anybody can submit a response, I wasn't asked if I was in Scotland

That survey is a joke asks about your gender as male female non binary or other no question about sex. Then it links the questions for a group with the individual responses it needs pulling and re doing

JanieAllen · 30/09/2022 21:02

i've just filled it in the most spectacular bad routing of any consultation I've taken part in. Despite answering as an individual - insisted on asking me as an organisation as well.

334bu · 30/09/2022 21:08

I ticked other and then said in comments box that I didn't have a gender identity but my sex was female.

Can't respond to this as I would like, as my name will be published and my full response as well (or so they say, in Scotland they do that?) So I can't risk my unique name appearing on TRAs hitlists because I voiced gender critical views about males in female sports. I guess that's one way to keep women silent?

Yes, they publish the entire response with your name on their website, unless they decide part or all of it doesn't meet standards for publication or if it turns out to be one of those consultations where the dog ate all of the responses. You're supposed to be able to submit on a "confidential" (circulate my response as needed inside the Parliament but don't publish it) or "anonymous" (publish my response but list author as "Anonymous") basis. It used to be possible to select these options when submitting, but now (or for this specific consultation?) it looks like you have to contact the committee in advance to get approval: If you do not want your response to be published in its entirety and would like to discuss your options, please contact the Committee before making your submission: [email protected].

It's a subtle way of only getting a very skewed response isn't it? I don't want to fill it out if my name is going to be attached to my comments. I might say something that upsets a certain group of people and I might receive unwanted attention both professionally and personally because of it - but I do want to make my views known as a citizen of Scotland.

Surely anonymity should be the default in these circumstances - the exception rather than the rule? And I feel like this about any political consultation I might contribute to.

Has anyone used the parliamentary email address above to contact someone about this barrier? Did you get a response?

IkaBaar · 02/10/2022 19:08

I filled it in using a fake name and email.
