There’s a question on sex - male/female. Great.
There’s also a question on gender identity. Fine, except it’s “Does your gender identity match your sex?” And possible answers are yes/no/prefer not to say. If no, there’s a box where you can specify.
This is great for inclusion of all the many gender identifies that people may hold.
But what do I say if I don’t accept the premise of the question because I have no gender identity?
WIBU to tick no and to use the box to explain
- I don’t have a gender identity
- The phrasing of this question (a) excludes people with a protected characteristic and (b) is likely to distort survey results
- The CS needs to absorb lessons from the Forstater and Bailey cases as a matter of urgency if they (a) don’t want similar cases at their door and (b) want to be able to serve the public with objectivity, as per the civil service code?
Or would they just think all that was just another new gender identity and add me to the stats for trans colleagues?
Any other CSs slightly disappointed with this question? Again.
