The Tonight Show Ireland talk trans

Anyone watch this a couple of days ago (I couldn't see a thread on it but apologies if I missed it)

Thoughts? Seemed like Colette Colfer was a bit unhappy and felt a bit duped at being brought on under the trans-life topic, felt like the presenter was hoping to challenge her and villify her a bit more but to be fair to Colette she was so calm and managed to get her points across in a way no one could jump on her without looking unreasonable. I thought Mark Tighe also came across very well, it all felt very tip toe-ish though and I would have liked it if Mark was able to talk a bit more about the transman at the start of the segments concern about probing/inappropriate questions during assessments before surgery, you know pointing out the fact that surgery like this is far more probing and invasive than any questions being asked and how important it is for potential recipients of such surgeries should be 100% aware of what their limitations (sex/fertility wise) will or could be afterwards

You can watch it here from Ireland (first 30 minutes of the episode)

The transman feeling like they can't dress like their brothers. It's just so damaging, forcing kids into stereotypes. The transwoman talked about never feeling like a boy I mean this always flummoxed me, what does this actually mean?

Collette was interesting, the parallels between religion and gender identity and how they both require a system of belief. She made some great points.

Good watch.

Colette was wonderful. She was the only one who had to deal with any degree of antagonism when being questioned but still managed to get her points across clearly and calmly.

When I heard the transman, Cody, talking about his negative experience with the questions he had to answer before transitioning it seemed very familiar. Sure enough I found this article:

Interesting that Cody had complications from one of his surgeries, but still believes that it is unreasonable to have to undergo an assessment to be sure that surgery is the correct option.
