So very sad but predictable to see this.

I'll copy the text for those that don't read Reddit. It is in the Legal Advice UK sub. Some of the replies are very telling as well.

Think I got filmed in a Primark changing room. What can I do?

I (F22) was in the changing rooms of my nearest Primark yesterday trying things on. The changing rooms in question had curtains rather than doors, and the walls between each room had a gap at the bottom that was probably around 1/2 a foot tall, similar to the ones in public bathroom cubicles and the like. My room was the last one in a row. On the wall separating my room from the one behind it there was a small bench seat, and the wall opposite had a mirror. There was nobody else in the changing rooms except a man in the one directly behind me. He seemed to be young (20s) with olive skin and dark hair but that's all I really clocked.

As I was trying stuff on yesterday I dropped a hanger so I bent down to pick it up. When I did, I noticed a phone propped up sideways on something (maybe a shoe? I don't know) right under the gap between the doors with the rear camera facing towards my changing room. If I hadn't bent down I wouldn't have noticed it due to the bench seat extending from the separating wall.

At first I didn't think too much of it but after I left I started wondering why on earth someone would put their phone on the floor when each changing room has a bench in it. Not only that but the phone was propped up with the camera facing right into my room. I just can't understand how that could be a coincidence. If he was filming then my face is clearly visible in the recording because I looked straight into the camera.

As time has passed I've felt more and more upset about it. I've told friends about it and they seem fairly sure it's not a coincidence that his phone was in that position. But I don't know what I can do because I'm not 100% sure and I have no proof. All I know is I feel completely violated but I don't know what the best step to take is.

One of the replies:

"Being a current employee of a primark 100% report it to a manager...

This issue has become more of a problem since most/all primarks started using unisex chancing facilities, but that doesn't mean we don't take this issue lightly."

No shit. Primark no exactly what they are doing by having mixed sex changing rooms. Putting women and girls at risk and creating the perfect opportunities for offenders.

So sorry that happened to you OP. This happened to me and my young daughter at Splash Landings, Alton towers. It affected her immensely and she refuses to ever go there now.

Report, report, report.

The lobby groups and males with no respect for boundaries insist that there's no issue - while the growing statistics suggest that predators are increasingly emboldened by easy access to women and girls undressing.

So report every single incident.

respectmysex · 18/09/2022 18:28

Sorry if it's not clear, this is not me. Just another victim of Primark bowing down to TRAs and not sure how to handle it. It seems to me that we see Primark particularly in the news every month or so with another case going to court for this. How many more don't get reported?

How many female victims are enough for Primark to revert back to single sex changing rooms?

At this point, it's corporate neglect. They are looking the other way time and again while men abuse women at will.

How awful. I hope she does contact the store.

I read the comments , most were advising to contact the store or police however there were loads deleted

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/09/2022 06:34

Wow, redditors seem very optimistic about the police. Do we really think they will do anything?

Deliriumoftheendless · 19/09/2022 08:35

I don’t think the police would necessarily do anything but if every incident is reported surely that shows the lie that “there’s been no problems”.

at least there would be figures to point to show how often it does occur.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/09/2022 09:36

Yes, I am in favour of reporting for that reason.

I'm not an expert but I think that if something is reported to the police and it is a crime (which this obviously (hopefully!) is), they have to record it and give it a crime number even if they don't take further action, so it's worth reporting for the statistics.

respectmysex · 20/09/2022 21:59

Based on another thread, people are being discouraged from reporting incidents, security staff not reporting to the police and leaving it to customers themselves, leaving out the name of the store and reporting by postcode only etc in order to hide what is really happening.

Women know what it happening and it's now a perverts paradise. I'm so angry that women and girls have been put in this position and it's all being hushed up and ignored.
