(Please bear in mind this is a live court case and innocent unless proven guilty.)

Two more charges added, from 2015 and 2020.

I’m glad they are going ahead with trials. It might be easier for them to say it’s not in the public interest to pursue and just have the charges lie of file since he’s already serving a whole life tariff (i.e. too expensive when he can’t get a longer sentence if he’s found guilty). But knowing the history and having it laid bare will be informative for any parole hearing and help in the struggle to hold authorities to account.

Good. It's time to challenge the numerous men believing that it's OK to expose their penis in front of women and girls for all sorts of reasons. We need some high profile cases to remind people (and the Stonewall captured police) that indecent exposure is a crime and women and girls should not be subject to it for any reason.

Yes, agree to all of those points.

I would like indecent exposure/flashing treated far more seriously; Paraphilias seem to be frighteningly common, and do tend to escalate.

We'd heard about this before and I'm glad the charges are going ahead.

I hope the case is not jeopardised by the public or media based on his current conviction.

PeriodBro · 20/08/2022 09:58

We had, but these are two new charges. If I've understood correctly, they go back to 2015 and are therefore possibly showing a longstanding history.

As an exec advisor, I am happy to see this because flashing is often minimised by the authorities where we would place it as a higher risk action because it has control and sexuality about it. Why would you minimise that? It's a step up in risk. So yes, let's have it on the table that flashing is a step further on the path, and look what its led to.

Agree, something. I had a wee read of indecent exposure laws. It seems it's quite hard to prosecute, because it relies on intent being proven?

Still, we need more information and more awareness.

something2say · 20/08/2022 10:22

Its bollocks. We know there are all sorts of flashers, fact. But the theory gets them off. And so it goes on.

I'm tired of living life by theory. One size doesn't fit all and let's stop throwing the baby out with the bathwater, allowing harm to just go on.
