My thinking is Ezra manages to get away with the abuse by claiming complex mental health issues and going into rehab. The Flash movie probably will get pushed back a year or so and then released as normal.

Yes I agree that Marvel will likely stand by him as he had a starring role. But I believe he is facing criminal charges so it doesn’t sound appear he will be getting away with all his bad behaviour, regardless of whether he has mental health issues or not.

IcakethereforeIam · 16/08/2022 11:11

It's DC, not Marvel. Argh, so sorry, but I just couldn't.....

Beamur · 16/08/2022 11:13

I think he probably does have MH issues..glad he's getting some help, both for his own sake and people he comes into contact with.

cariadlet · 16/08/2022 11:25

I hate it when people use "mental health issues" to excuse poor behaviour; it's an insult to people with genuine mental health problems. It's taken decades to reduce the stigma and for people to realise that mental illnesses are as real and as deserving of treatment as physical illnesses. I don't want that progress to be undone by the misuse of "mental health issues".

He is a complete creep and I really hope that he doesn't get away with his crimes.

FunnyTalks · 16/08/2022 14:11

On the one hand it might be individually helpful to explore why a person committing a crime behaves as they do. We are all products of circumstances, environment, childhood and genetics. Sometimes less favourable constellations of these factors can cause what we might call MH problems.

On the other hand there are many people with less favourable circumstances, MH problems if you like, who do not commit crimes.

I'd be very interested to know whether violence committed by males with "MH problems" against victims unknown to them affects both the sexes equally. Or whether random victims are disproportionately women. Which would imply some level of conscious choice (to choose weaker victim) on the part of the attacker.

I think males experience more violence over all, but how much of that is related to gangs and therefore not random?

ChagSameachDoreen · 16/08/2022 14:19

He's a wrong 'un.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 16/08/2022 14:27

He's batshit crazy. Some of it may be genuine mental health problems that he needs support and treatment for, but I suspect a lot of it is entitlement and having too much. Too much money, too much power, too much freedom to do and say whatever he wants and be indulged by everyone around him.

I hope that criminal charges are passed and that there are actual consequences to his actions.

rightonthyme · 16/08/2022 15:10

His non-apology made me grit my teeth. Nasty human being imo,

Pluvia · 16/08/2022 15:47

I think a lot of TRAs have serious mental health issues that mean people are unwilling to go in hard on them. There was a young man in the Cardiff area who stirred up a lot of trouble for Jennifer Swayne and others, but whom the police and everyone else were reluctant to do anything about because he was clearly unwell. I've had a bipolar friend tell me that just because a person has mental health issues doesn't mean they get a free pass for being an arsehole, but the rules seem to be different for this lot.

CliantheLang · 16/08/2022 16:33

Lie, damn lies and statistics: We all know that factoid doesn't hold up to scrutiny. Most of the violence committed against women and girls never makes it onto a police blotter.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 16/08/2022 17:10

I don't think its fair for total strangers to decide if someone has mental health issues or not.

Having moved in similar circles to him, there has been a huge behavioural change in the last 2/3 years with all new people surrounding him using him for clout and of course enabling his behaviour.

I hope he does face the full consequences for his violent actions whilst also acknowledging and learning from his behaviour not to do it again.

cariadlet · 16/08/2022 17:51

I think impulsive violent actions are sometimes linked to mental illness or brain injury and wouldn't comment on those but I find his behaviour with the young girl completely inexcusable.

picklemewalnuts · 16/08/2022 19:11

Someone else who has to take his mum with him. Interesting.

A complicating factor I think for him and many like him, is a narcissistic belief that they are a nice guy, so it's ok for them to do x,y,z. Obviously everyone knows I'm a nice guy. It would look awful if a random got really friendly with a 12 yr old and allowed her to move in with him. I'm a nice guy who's doing it for the right reasons so it's ok.
And I'd never hurt anyone. Never. Well, there was this one woman who was being really awful to me, and I'd had a couple of drinks, but she was being so awful and I just flipped for a moment, but that's not really me at all, it's just she was so awful!

Chevyimpala67 · 16/08/2022 19:14

No cure for being a cunt

WanOvaryKenobi · 16/08/2022 19:16

Oh to be a fly on the wall with this particular person's publicist.

And really that line of thinking is not just narcissists. It's really easy for most people to fall into that way of thinking, it takes some self reflection and a firm sense of boundaries to avoid it. People who somehow miss out on those things can struggle.
