Gender programme at work

My workplace has a series of talks and workshops planned off the back of their LGBT+ sessions. I was prepared for the worst.

However, I highly suspect GC senior management are involved in this. Not a single mention of trans... u less they are hiding it to avoid a pile on.

  1. Intro to gender. Talking about the impact of gender stereotypes. A safe conversation session...
  1. Gender balance. A focus on culture and how it affects inclusivity at work (looks like a talk by a woman from a country that has a different workplace culture (don't be too emotional) and exploring that.
  1. A session about how inequality can affect men......
  1. Unconscious bias, micro aggressions etc. Talk by a woman in a male dominated career.

Definitely interested to attend these, it isn't perfect by any means but I am heartened by the focus on binary sex instead of rainbow unicorn gender is a construct woo? What are your thoughts?

Not sure why we call it gender when we are talking about sex which makes me wonder about hidden content here 🤷‍♀️

I would say that sounds fairly promising, they're probably still using gender in the way that we all used it before gender ideology and the accompanying shitshow came along.

I think the introduction session would probably give you a good idea of what they are hoping to achieve.

Id be asking ‘do you mean sex?’ ‘What’s gender?’

god my patience is so thin these days.

Sounds like you've already had a few! Don't forget that slightly more than two is the recommended limit.

Igmum · 12/08/2022 23:31

A reasonable diversity training course. Well done your GC SMT.

Ooh I've never actually seen one of these posting for screenshots ploppers in the wild. They've usually been deleted by the time I see them.

Is this the usual standard or a particularly poor attempt at pretending to be one of those bigoted mummy Twitter has fearmongered about?

KittenKong · 13/08/2022 00:27

Not sure. There’s probably a PhD in there…

What's this post got to do with sexuality? 0/10 for sarcasm, now sod off back to your TRA Twitter-sphere.

The usual standard is a D minus but that one’s getting an F. Real Hall of Shame stuff right there. I suspect he might be genuinely drunk while pretending to be drunk;
oddly it doesn’t make him more convincing.

DarkDayforMN · 13/08/2022 01:28

No thank you! Don't need to here about gay agenda in the workplace!! LGEBST prophanda!! Mummy needs a glass of wine ...

presumably that will get deleted in the morning and I thought it was worth preserving as an exhibit.

StClare101 · 13/08/2022 02:27

They are using gender because “gender equality” used to mean equality between sexes. Not so much anymore.

I assume “sex equality” made corporates feel awkward?!

NumberTheory · 13/08/2022 06:39

That’s sounds promising but… why is it on the back of the LGBTQ+ sessions? LGBTQ+ led equality is unlikely to be based in anything other than male supremacy because LGBTQ+ as a demographic make up a smaller percentage than oppressed groups from the other oppressed demographics, most of whom cannot “pass”. So a focus on them is more likely to by elites.

You may be right and GC staff have used the LGBTQ+ sessions to make the case that they need to also address the 51% of the population that is female and under appreciated and under utilized. And so made the case for sessions based on gender and then used their influence to ensure that gender is closely aligned to sex. OR there is a powerful LGBTQ+ lobby that is also more savvy about popular opinion than the majority of TRAs and they have made innocuous sounding session descriptions to cover up a more genderist agenda. You’re only going to know for sure once you know the content of the sessions. OR (and I pessimistically think most likely) the are using gender as a pseudonym for sex because most of them haven’t really thought about it and they are very vulnerable to being hijacked by TRAs from the LGBTQ+ lobby.

I hope it’s good news, though.

Will they do similar for racism?

😂😂

It's hilarious. I haven't seen one of these before either. Don't they bother to even have a rudimentary scan of the boards and the nature of posts before writing something?

There are still quite a few workplaces where LGBTQ+ means primarily the LGB and isn't hijacked by an MRA agenda. Maybe this is the case here.

Maybe they genuinely analysed their workforce and decided what are the biggest issues and built from there.

I know for a lot of workplaces 'diversity training' is about not much more than virtue signalling and tick boxes rather than real change, but some genuinely are trying to do the right thing and to create a fairer workplace. Interested to hear how it goes OP.

DinoDay · 29/08/2022 07:21

Very good points. It is coming up soon so will report back.

They do a lot for race, and disabilities. It's local government so that comes pretty standard. Haven't worked at this place long so haven't made a judgement about how much lgbt stuff dominates.

If they said it was sex based, your title would be 'sex programme at work' ...

Mongoosely · 29/08/2022 09:56

3 is a bit worrying in my mind - though I would be interested to hear it to see how it is put across.

Is your SMT an even split of men/women.

In my experience misogynists will latch on to 3 and the rest of the points will become invalidated. I don't know how misogyny is handled in your workplace though (or whether you are lucky enough to work with a large group of very nice men!).

Mongoosely · 29/08/2022 09:57

I do think it's well ordered in that fourth topic comes after the third topic though - high five for that.
