I saw India Willoughby post on twitter about a user called "mimikyu" saying they were a GP with a trans patient they wanted to avoid giving hormones to. I searched and can't find anything by a poster called mimikyu, so did it happen or has it been deleted?

I've always felt sorry for Mimikyu, but didn't really think much about it till now. Apparently its the disguise pokemon and appears as pikachu to make friends.

Oh India 😂

Mimikyu is a small Pokémon, standing at only 8 inches tall (0.2 m), and is hidden almost entirely underneath a disguise. It has beady black eyes which can be seen through its disguise, and a vague semblance of a lower body can be seen at the hem of its costume. It will occasionally extend a black appendage from beneath the disguise, which has black eyes, red cheeks, a squiggly black mouth, a lightning bolt-shaped stick that resembles a tail, and ears that are colored black on the top. Mimikyu is lonely, and in an effort to emulate the popularity of Pikachu, wears its Pikachu-like costume in order to make friends.[1] Mimikyu is drawn to dark or dimly lit areas, and its health will decline if exposed to sunlight.[1]

Oh c'mon. 🤣🤣🤣

If only mumsnet were a physical place for women to talk to other women. It would be so much simpler for misogynists to dominate and silence us.

Sadly if they're not clever enough to, I dunno, come and engage respectfully and put forward their point clearly, they have to resort to this kind of tactic.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 02/08/2022 15:35

I saw that thread last night. I thought "troll" too, because there was no internal consistency between the question and the justification for asking the question. It was like someone was parroting sentences he or she didn't understand, and stringing the sentences together.

I don't want to give anyone ideas, but if I wanted to pose as a GP who didn't want to prescribe cross-sex hormones/make a referral onwards, I could write a much better OP than that!

Indeed. And there are many doctors and surgeons on Mumsnet who have grave concerns.

I'll never forget the surgeon posting here who treats injuries resulting from rape and sexual assault. She totally understood why young women might want to opt out of womanhood.

All her posts were full of compassion, empathy and concern.

I honestly think it would be impossible for a transactivist to write a post involving those attributes, whilst trying to provide a gotcha.

GoodThinkingMax · 02/08/2022 15:57

Thread was deleted. A pity as it was a very interesting and careful, thoughtful discussion.

GoodThinkingMax · 02/08/2022 16:00

I'm blocked by I Willoughby, so I didn't realise the original thread was probably a set up. I thought there were some interesting & compassionate responses.

Not sure how long this thread will last, TBH.

It was deleted because the poster was clearly trying to set up women to say something controversial. Who knows, the OP in that thread might even have been a journalist looking for a story.

Interesting that in this supposedly awfully "transphobic" place, not one poster wrote anything even vaguely controversial, let alone "transphobic."

Yup - the only transphobia came from Mimikyu - incredible that IW was wandering around the board at that very moment and managed to spot the post Grin

Want to bet that the "report this thread button" is being frantically hit at the moment??

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/08/2022 17:23

Oh c'mon.

Hahaha Grin

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 02/08/2022 17:24

I treasure the memory of how IW saw and repeated a mumsnetter's sarcastic comment about "rightwing Tommy Sheridan" without recognising the sarcasm.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 02/08/2022 17:32

Sometimes you need to read tone when you get your updates from mumsnetters. We're well sarky.
