Hot on the heels of the Kemi article, some very good questions that need to be answered in this one:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/07/30/tavistock-transgender-clinic-may-have-closed-fight-isnt/

Telegraph don’t do share tokens but here’s a flavour:

”There should have been more alarm following Dr Cass’ comments that the very use of puberty blockers may delay brain maturation temporarily or permanently, which could have significant impact on the ability to make complex risk-laden decisions. Decisions such as taking hormones or having surgery. These are awkward side-effects for charities who have pedalled to children the fantasy that they can be freed from puberty, their bodies made to neatly align with a new gender identity. How do they reconcile alleviating one distress by replacing it with one that may emerge for many young people as they mature into adults dealing with side-effects, possible infertility and impaired sexual function?”

What a good nuanced article. I especially liked this:
There has, however, been no commentary from Labour. A party putting itself forward for government should be able to put the needs of children above their fear of activists....
How do we find a way to reconcile with a younger generation told that they may be “in the wrong body” and can become the other sex?
How do we, in challenging ideology, still create the space for the idea of non-conformity, fluidity and freedom from stereotypes? How do we address what may underpin so many teenage girls feeling they might be better off as boys? How do we restore schools’ respect for parents and their legitimate interest in their children’s welfare?

Nikki da Costa was Director of Legislative Affairs at Downing Street. The fee for this article will go to Aurora New Dawn, a charity for victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking

That was very classy and I like the final information. After Kemi Badenoch's revelations about the difficulties that she faced in meeting the people she needed to hear from, I'm more sorry than ever that ethical embodiments of Nolan Priniciples such as da Costa are no longer present where they can influence govt.
