This is such a brilliant article I thought it deserved a thread of its own

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/0df1a300-1022-11ed-b7aa-67f5549661eb?shareToken=6a28be626fdfbe110e88f0f1d47775df

I wonder if Chris Bryant feels any pangs of shame for his tweet that garnered 20K likes accusing Kemi of 'alleged' homophobia a couple of weeks ago. He deleted it, no apology.

She's done far more to protect gay youth than he's ever done.

Kemi is extremely eloquent in her view of the opposition parties on the state of all this. Please do read it.

The strength and energy that shone out of that article! I do hope she gets the role in the next cabinet where she can do the most good.

That is a really good article.

She’s so direct and straightforward - I like the way she’s happy to name names like this:

“I was astonished that in trying to help mostly gay children whose childhoods were being destroyed by experimental treatment, I was misrepresented by mischief-makers and their friends in certain media outlets as being anti-LGBT with slurs gleefully retweeted by Labour politicians such as Angela Rayner and Chris Bryant.”

I disagree with her on many (probably most) things but she is spot on on this. It is bloody shameful that the left have made this a left/right issue. And I've voted Labour since the 1980s - until Corbyn. That antisemite enabler can go fuck himself

Wow. That is a stonkingly good article. I'm so glad she's spoken up about how rotten central government is on this topic

Abitofalark · 30/07/2022 19:44

The article outlines what happened over the Tavistock and gives an insight from a minister's perspective into how things are done - or frustrated and stopped from being done - in government and her view as to the responsibilities of ministers. It's refreshingly clear and direct.

The heading gives a flavour:

"The Tavistock scandal shows the dangers of civil service groupthink

I was advised not to listen to Keira’s harrowing story but I overruled that: ministers must overcome obstacles to find the truth "

Great, clear thinking article.
