Hello Vipers,

I'm currently at a Tory gathering waiting for Rishi to appear and answer questions. I intend to ask how he will protect women's sports going forward. Any other questions anyone would like asked?

But he knows what a woman is, what a daughter is and what needs to be done to protect our rights.

He knows what his daughter is, and will protect her rights. If you think he gives two shits about you and your tawdry family, you've either not been paying attention these past 200 years, or are in for a nasty shock.

You can't really talk about leaving the ECHR and protecting rights in the same universe.

My tawdry family? Interesting debating tactic.

I see what you are saying, but if he is going to be PM for the next two years, even given what you say, and all the things he probably will not do, isn’t it surely better than nothing if he listens to women about language and spaces, or doesn’t cancel ministers who do?

Is that going to make his mates rich ? No. So it's of no import

I couldn't possibly write what a true blue Tory like Rishi Sunak really thinks of you and your family. It'd be a banhammer that extended over many reincarnations.

Anyway, this is all froth. Sunak has fuck all chance of being elected leader of the Tory party so whatever he believes (or you think he believes) is moot. If the leader of the Tories is to change it's Liz "what's the time so I can set my mind" Truss you need to be thinking about. But once again, believe you me, you will be thinking about her infinitely more than she will be thinking of you.

People need to get over this idea that if someone is a member of the CP, the only thing they actually care about is their own personal gain, or that of their friends.

It's frankly ridiculous. Look at the thread on what's happening at GIDS, and specifically what has gone on behind the scenes politically to make it happen. That kind of thing happens because there is political support for a change in direction, working with some diligence, about an issue they think is important.

Why wouldn't Rishi, or anyone else in the party, have views on how women's rights in the country should be protected? The vast majority of people are not psychopaths, and want a functioning society. They may differ significantly about what they think will create that society, or even what will make people happy.

The ECHR is a tool, and there are always other tools. Sometimes better ones.

Even if this were true, which I don't necessarily accept - better indifference than actively working to throw my rights away. See, Labour and Keir Starmer.

‘He cares about his daughters. Couldn't give a flying fuck about yours. He will also be committed to providing your daughters with "the finest healthcare in the NHS" while having private cover for his and even more committed to "the highest education standards for your children" while sending his daughters to a private school.’

So what? He’s rich. He can send his kids to private school if he wants. I don’t care about that. I care about the laws and policies he intends to make or repeal.

Remember also that they are not just "his" daughters. Presumably his wife gets a say in their education. They are, indeed, fortunate to have a choice. However, I would defend their right to exercise that choice for their own children.

I am not sure why a thread about women's rights has us discussing where a couple of children go to school.

I, for one, am very grateful that this issue has been aired in the debate. I haven't stopped smiling since the Allison Bailey victory and am smiling even more broadly given today's NHS GIDS news.
