anyone has any first hand health and social care stories they'd be prepared to share?

OP posts:
elferian · 19/07/2022 17:54

in what context?

GoodJanetBadJanet · 19/07/2022 18:01

YABU

Hoardasurass · 19/07/2022 19:51

Why?

CrossStichQueen · 19/07/2022 20:18

There is a AIBU section with voting if you want to ask it to be moved.

There is no context to your question so difficult to answer.

I had an ingrown toenail treated. It was excruciating.

Something like that?

pantherpie · 19/07/2022 20:46

Oh hi journo.

Motorina · 19/07/2022 21:15

Ummm. When I had my third covid jab we all had to queue outside. Me and a bunch of very old people. Which was embarrassing.

I got a Chinese takeaway after.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/07/2022 21:15

I got a Chinese takeaway after.

Yum.

I had to go to A&E with a head injury recently. They were great.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 19/07/2022 22:05

I thought the food in the pregnancy ward and postnatal was fantastic. The veggie option was always curry, so I had curry and rice for lunch and dinner every day until discharged.

Pluvia · 19/07/2022 22:11

I stubbed my toe on a rock on Saturday and it's still quite swollen and sore now. I can wiggle it, so I guess it's not broken. Do you think I should go to A+E or not, OP?

Conflictedunicorn · 20/07/2022 06:20

I’ve got a headache? Does that count

FFS090722 · 20/07/2022 07:40

I like the hot chocolate machine in a&e

IcakethereforeIam · 20/07/2022 07:59

There's a Newbourne Close near a maternity hospital.

waterlego · 20/07/2022 08:02

@IcakethereforeIam Love that!

waterlego · 20/07/2022 08:03

My surgery uses Econsults now and I’ve found it a very useful service. Seems to work well. You can still see a Dr if necessary but a lot of stuff can be dealt with via email or phone.

GreenManalishi · 20/07/2022 08:04

When my aunt turned 60 she used to walk to the post office and pick up her pension.

Clymene · 20/07/2022 08:10

There's huge pressure on District nursing services. Many of them are at crisis point as they're severely understaffed because of Brexit

Feckedupbundle · 20/07/2022 09:55

My 84 year old dad was signed off by his consultant yesterday after having a pancreatic abscess with necrosis last September.

He's been back at work on the farm since May,and is now riding his bike to work, not bad after we were told that he'd likely not survive.

SapphosRock · 20/07/2022 10:26

When elderly folk get cancer the NHS funds all their treatment and care.

When elderly folk get dementia they must fund the care themselves. This is usually around £4.5k per month.

Mochudubh · 20/07/2022 10:35

I had a grumbling appendix when I was nine and I had to go to hospital but then it settled down and then I went home.

True story!

IcakethereforeIam · 20/07/2022 10:49

I had a frozen shoulder and the exercises I was told to do made me nauseous. Anyway, covid happened and my shoulder got better as mysteriously as it had got frozen! Coincidence? Yes, definitely.
