Thought it was worth a separate thread. And once again, the Observer ploughs a separate furrow to the Guardian

Thank you lanadelgrey She's been such a fantastic advocate for women and speaking the truth.

LaughingPriest · 10/07/2022 13:39

This is good - pleased to see they've talked through and picked out the salient points early on.

The tribunal concluded that it would be “an error to treat a mere statement of Ms Forstater’s protected belief as inherently unreasonable or inappropriate”.

I liked the rather pointed mention of HR departments

Love this paragraph from the article:

“There were days when I did have regrets about going ahead, but they weren’t really significant, for the reason that there are so many women who have experienced a version of what I did, and I was in a place – I’d reached an age when I had fewer fucks to give – to do something on their behalf.”

Maya you are fab!!👏👏

Lovely interview. She said her degree was in Agriculture. Maybe that helped!

It's so lovely to see history in the making, and know you always supported the right side of it.

She was used to dealing with bullshit?

Thanks for the link OP, I don't read the Observer normally but enjoyed that article

Exactly, thanks to Maya we can share our gender critical views freely in the workplace.

Great article, telling that it was in the Observer not the Guardian

I particularly liked the reference to the hearing questioning (respondents) why it is offensive for women to voice concerns regarding potential safeguarding issues. Maya points out this revealed many of their arguments didn’t stack up!

Yes, I don't imagine 'no debate' 'youre a bigot' etc would have gone well as an answer from the other side in the hearing!

Truth always wins in the end

I loved the 'fewer fucks to give' comment being left in the article too. It seems important to be like that now: not seeking approval, but demanding legal redress.

I really don't want approval from men and their lopsidedly crafted institutions. I don't want approval from the women who for some reason help to prop these up. I want my legal rights and I want legal redress when they are breached - those same rights I fought for many decades ago.

Great article, but pity even the Observer got it wrong that the other three items were "unsuccessful"
They weren't, they were "dismissed" because the three that were found in her favour were more serious, so there was no need to consider the three, lesser points.

If someone is accused of murder and manslaughter, and found guilty of murder, the lesser charge of manslaughter is dismissed, because it is overtaken by the more serious charge.

That's useful, thanks. I didn't know that.
