I think that even apart from the drag element, it's to the point that he is looking to be in the media.
There is a reason that so often the people we see pushing the envelope around presentations are people like rock stars. It's because they have an interest in making waves, being remembered, doing something different.
In general it's not because they have some deep inner need to wear a dress or have big hair. It's an image. And it will often set of a trend that others follow, and maybe it's not so edgy any more after that.
When private individuals push boundaries there can often be a lot more ambiguity for people to wonder why they are doing that. Maybe the individual has a deep need to have big hair, but people I suspect tend to be skeptical about that. Maybe he is also pushing the envelope in the same way a David Bowie is, some people are like that. But there can also be less innocent reasons to push at boundaries and that's always the concern I think.
This kid seems like the celebrity type. Which is fine, but I don't think it's really laudable.
