Are these school resources ok?

I've just been to a school tour for my child moving up to yr7 next year. This is the 3rd school we've visited but the first that had such a strong pro LGBT message throughout the school. Literally every door or wall had at least one poster. But I'm concerned about some of the materials on display. I'll add some pictures, hopefully those wiser than me can tell me if they are compliant with current DfE guidance. I've already had to have our primary school change materials to comply.

Specifically in the first picture: is the Gender Unicorn OK? I really don't like it.

And the books, are they fact-based or full of gender woo?

I agree, these toilets are simply not acceptable for girls. There is also no door and they open on to the corridor.

A secondary school with no sanitary disposal units in the toilets?? And mixed toilets???

Extra hard no.

FFS what are the girls in that school supposed to do? Come out of the loo with a little package of period shame wrapped in loo paper.

This is just so grim for girls.

I’m 43 and still occasionally get blood on my hand…the thought that, that would happen as a teenager, with a male teenager present horrifies me.

Ah, you can't see the unicorn very well, I'll try again.

Simple question:

Would you approve of your child having sex with someone they felt not emotional connection to?

Eg trading sex for money

Its Ranking:
Identity
Dress
Biology
Sex act
Emotional intelligence

IIRC - Joan of arc was claimed to be Queer/GNC/trans because of the gender specific clothes she wore. But it is often said that she wore ‘male clothes’ because it reduced the risk that she would be raped by male guards. That’s this whole argument in a nutshell pretty much to me - stereotypes and male dominance/privilege.

Then there would be the little problem of needing leather and padding under chain mail.
Fighting in a ankle lenght wet wollen skirt while tripping over dead bodies, arrows shafts, broken pike handles, etc the small stuff

Bookwise our school library has the Trueblood books, they are explicit and the show an 18 (vampires, lots of sex etc) when I brought the topic up with the librarian I got a "Well the students like it". I bet they do.

We had to do a Pride quiz in form today, one of the questions was "Sex is another name for___" before swiftly telling them that infact in science the gender and sex are not the same at all. Our school is plastered with flags for a "Pride scavanger hunt" with the students asking lots of questions on what they all mean ... which quite frankly I have no idea. Our "safe space" for children that need a quiet area is now also covered in rainbow flags which is great I suposse but what about the children that just need a quiet zone and hadn't at anypoint thought about changing their gender. Theres nothing wrong with being same sex attracted if its a conscious choice by the individual not being forced through peer pressure but it always seems to be the most vulnerable children going down the trans route and quite frankly it feels as if we are grooming them and its the bloody safeguard lead steering the ship.

I wouldn’t send my child to that school. They’re too young to be exposed to gender ideology, which that school is clearly pushing heavily.

I just thought I'd add a quick update, as we are visiting multiple schools at the moment. I went to another one and found the whole look and feel very different. Toilets were clearly labelled male and female. Other toilets were clearly labelled accessible with the sign showing a wheelchair plus the stick figure with a skirt on one side and straight legs the other. Is that a gender neutral sign?

The history block had a wall with a display showing the history of feminism and their LGBT display had very prominent messaging about being lesbian or gay. It all came across as very sensible.

The Head is a woman with 3 daughters, so I'm reading between the lines and guessing that she gets it.

I also saw one member of staff with a rainbow lanyard and another with the a Purple/white/green feminist badge pinned to her lanyard. I get the impression the school is encouraging and supportive of different beliefs. I came away very happy. I'm thinking about writing to the other school to let them know my feedback as a parent about their setup.

Well, mixed sex. Yes!

Sounds good, OP. I think writing to the other school emphasising the positive way the other school handled issues would be a great idea.

@HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime wrt the trueblood books, the books are far less explicit than the show. I'm not suggesting every parent would or should approve but personally I'd prefer my daughter reading these than the twilight series as the woman protagonist is assertive decisive and (in the books) ditches first boyfriend for all the right sort of red flag reasons whilst fighting to retain an independent identity of the second. I really like them and enjoyed the show too but I think it would a mistake to think that because the show is hbo & 18 rating that the books aren't suitable for teenagers.

p.s. totally agree with the ick vibes people are getting about the school.

I know which one I'd feel happier sending my daughter to

I'm just place marking as our school has announced toilets are a behaviour problems, they are outdated and will be changed, but that is all the information I have so far.

Get in early and organise with other parents, before the design phase results in the school management signing off on any style of mixed sex toilets.

Even asking if any refit would take account of the simple thing of having a dedicated space on door latch side of a girls toilet for the bin.
Ever notice that, even in baby change units the square bin for period products is not added in as necessity furniture?
Public toilets are still designed around a sitting male leaving the mimimum space for comfortable circulation and as a result women/girls often end up almost sitting on the bin.

You could also point out that males standing misting the lid of the bin with urine is unhygienic too.

Yes I'm going to email today. I've had Covid for nearly two weeks so not been able to act!

At my child's school, there is one teacher in particular who has been drinking the Cool Aid.
It became clear in Year 8 that she worshipped Stonewall, promoted Juno's books and championed Diversity Role Models coming in.
When I asked to see some of the material given to children as part of their 'education' it was Stonewall produced, containing its typical gender ideology.
At parents evening, I saw the teacher's laptop waa covered in rainbow stickers, including Mermaids and Stonewall.
I expressed my concerns to the headteacher, but was dismissed. My concern was over harmful and sexist gender ideology, yet somehow that concern over 'gender ID' was manipulated into being about sexuality!
I know I was branded a TERF after that.
In contrast, my other child's secondary has not been mesmerised by gender woo.
Had I known the one school was so transfixed by the ideology, then we would have made other choices.
That's all it takes - one staff member who is so hypnotised by this that it penetrates, captures the whole school. Incredible

Also that the gaps under toilet doors are a safety feature for children who have epilepsy, or those who may collapse for any other reason, and quick inspections during an alarm. Also for ventilation. Also for an anti sexual assault and drug taking measure.
