In only the BBC would use them!!!

'New guidelines for reporters recommend not using pronouns in court cases with trans-identified defendants; and using "claims to be transgender" rather than unequivocally stating male defendants are women or transwomen' .

Ahhh the most powerless marginalised & oppressed group ever strike again!

I expect Belchers Trans media watch have been all over this

UClan’s twitter has been subject to loads of criticism from just a few students (usual suspects) because of this. What a shame.

I might write to the vice chancellor. I recognise I’m only a woman so my complaint won’t matter but then it won’t take long and might remind him women (the cunty type) are impacted by this too.

I was wondering if this guidence & research had been republished after the knickers in twist episode died down. But it looks like it hasn't been. It appears the news report was never put back on the university Web site. The journal article was submited to a peer reviewed journal & published as a pre print, but was also taken down. I wonder how it is going making its way through peer review? and I feel for the researchers. Other academics were v keen to disparage the work, as well as all the usual twitter accounts.

This are changing so quickly it feels like the political environment on this issue is a bit different than it was even in June. I really hope the journalist bodies cam make changes to how reporting is done.

That's disappointing but not surprising Manderley. As all dictators know, controlling the media is essential in order to feed disinformation and remove democracy so I've no doubt the researchers were viciously targeted. I hope they're OK.

From @FemaleAndLearning 's IPSO link:

"The following organisations may also be able to provide further information, advice and support:
Stonewall
The Gender Identity Research and Education Society (GIRES)
Gendered Intelligence
Mermaids
Press for Change
Scottish Transgender Alliance"

Yes, they may... but perhaps it would be better if they didn't. Not a neutral nor even a balanced list.

So many people - even people on FWR - don't seem to have grasped this - constantly referencing 'wearing lippy' or 'putting on a dress'. That is not what makes someone trans.

Although to be fair, it's confusing when people like Izzard explain that you change 'mode' by putting shoes on and off.
