He's very good, as usual.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 24/06/2022 22:28

Excellent piece although dispiriting.

BreadInCaptivity · 24/06/2022 22:45

Great article.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/06/2022 22:45

Another depressing revelation but great that he's spotted it and written yet another excellent piece.

GibbonsGoatsGibbons · 24/06/2022 22:49

Wow that's depressing but I'm glad he's written it.
thanks Bore

JacquelinePot · 24/06/2022 23:19

Ffs!

Melroses · 25/06/2022 00:22

It is a very good piece, as he always does. He is always so clear.

But yes, depressing :(

tobee · 25/06/2022 01:28

Hmm I thought it was a tad overwritten - trying to be scrupulously fair maybe?

tobee · 25/06/2022 01:29

Took a while to get to the nub but f what he was saying.

However...

His comments on qualitative research are an easy explanation for those not familiar with research methodology. I didn’t know he was involved in a think tank and would have first hand knowledge of this.

We need more writers like this.

Kirkup is excellent on the failing of the care system, especially for children.

crosstalk · 25/06/2022 23:37

Good read and I am glad he is scrupulous in his article. I hope OFCOM responds.

Fenlandia · 12/07/2022 16:10

One for the history books - the BBC has apologised

twitter.com/fairplaywomen/status/1546872474289283073

“We were unaware of previous comments made by Fallon Fox in 2020. Had we been aware of those comments in advance we would have conducted the interview differently”

achillestoes · 12/07/2022 16:19

Good. They need to undertake significant reform on this issue.

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 12/07/2022 16:38

I'm certain that's not true though. I and am sure many others have complained about Fallon Fox being given airtime previously. Plus they will have been made aware of those comments when we've complained about the unfairness of men in women's sports.

On top of that they should also, what with being the BBC and all, actually vet their guests THEMSELVES.

Absolutely not good enough, and weaselly. Again.

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 12/07/2022 16:44

Sorry, didn't even comment on the article as was annoyed by the BBC's slithery excuses.

Brilliant article, really interesting and important to get the methodology info out there. But yes, most depressing.

Hoardasurass · 12/07/2022 17:52

So not sorry that they invited fallon fox just sorry that they didn't ask falling different questions 🤨🤬

Hoardasurass · 12/07/2022 17:53

Sorry should say fallon not falling

FigRollsAlly · 12/07/2022 18:43

I must have used up my 3 free articles this month as I can’t read it. Can anyone give me the gist of it please, especially as regards where this new order to back trans rights has come from?

JemimaTab · 12/07/2022 18:49

That’s not really an apology from the BBC is it? They’re saying they would still have interviewed Fox - despite Fox’s comments about having enjoyed breaking a woman’s skull.
They’d just have conducted the interview differently.
FFS.

EsmaCannonball · 12/07/2022 18:53

I don't believe them. Their researchers and producers have access to the internet.

Thanks @Binglebong . So it seems that Ofcom’s research was biased because it specifically explored the views of trans people but made no effort to do the same for gender critical people. Quite a failing by both Ofcom, and whoever conducted the research for them, which you could describe as a blindspot if feeling charitable.
