It's a very grim series (on now) about the enabling of known sadistic paedophiles at the highest level (headmaster of Eton and Fettes), parents turning a blind eye, apparently regarding it as a price worth paying for entry into the most privileged social class. Those who think there's no way predatory males today would exploit loopholes or the notion of an untouchable class to get access to children are utterly deluded.

Thanks, Ivy.

Today's episode was a very hard listen. Those poor boys.

Would like to set record a bit straight here - mothers were described as arriving at various school gates to complain about the abuse their child had disclosed. So please don't think that parents always turned a blind eye to the abuse. Sorry to be a bit oppositional, Ivy.

@FlibbertyGiblets no, I know, but it's so depressing that some must have done, and given their social class their fathers probably experienced the same thing in their day. It's like for some it was factored in as part of school life (look at Alan Bennett's The History Boys for a grammar school example). I have a relative who many years ago didn't lodge a complaint about a teacher who beat her child, because she was religious and it was a faith school. Instead, she moved her child to another school.

I get you, and yes, so depressing. Thank you Ivy.
