The Family Sex Show: police investigation

Some on here will remember that I was one of the people who made some official complaints about it, I contacted The Arts Council, NSPCC, CEOP etc. I also contacted Avon and Somerset police as ThisEgg's company was registered with Companies House at a Bristol address. I did not just complain about the stage show but also very much about the material that was being put out online.
The police have phoned me this morning and will be conducting an investigation. They are obviously asking about supporting evidence. Of course I directed them to the webpage, YouTube channel etc, but as we know, some stuff got deleted. There are however screenshots and archives available as I have described to the police officer.

I have my own screenshot of the part about the masturbating animals. If anyone has or is aware of any other deleted material, and they would like to make the police aware, please PM me and I can pass on the police officer's contact details.

I am still trying to find the material that was (I think) on Twitter (?), with the part about making something hurt less, and about whether it "bothers you if my body misbehaves". This is stuff I was particularly perturbed by and I cannot find it on the website, can anyone point me to where I saw that?

Femisaurus · 26/05/2022 01:19

I just watched that advert. What the actual fuck?! How can anyone think that is OK

One of the male voices in the background says "what can I do to change your mind" 🤔

DontLikeCrumpets · 26/05/2022 02:48

@theDudesmummy

Perhaps contact the Daily Mail and the person who wrote the story that PicniKtime links to, tell them what you're doing and ask if they have any archive material.

FrancescaContini · 26/05/2022 08:21

Really excellent work, @theDudesmummy
Thank you for standing up for safeguarding children. I have no materials to add but I am impressed with your diligence. 💐

Just watched this too. “What’s your favourite position to be in?” “Do you think I am big?”
Plus more. The faux girlish/childlike voice.

Really sickening. Grooming in plain sight. The police absolutely need to view this.

Wifwolf · 26/05/2022 08:34

Thank you OP. I hope the police do a good job and that those promoting this will be tackled appropriately.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 26/05/2022 08:35

I don't have any material to add, but just wanted to say thank you for following this up, you're a star and I hope the police will have a good dig into all this.

Neverendingmindfuck · 26/05/2022 08:39

@theDudesmummy I salute you and every other person reporting this shit show 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I have really been encouraged recently by WOMEN taking control.
Thank you, I hope the police shut this down.

That's the clip @theDudesmummy ^^

That's the one about making it hurt less and what if my body misbehaves.

Jesus H Christ!

It generally gives me the rage that still STILL, progressive left leaning organisations like the Arts Council, like the BBC and like the Guardian can be endorsing or encouraging stuff like this.

I used to be firmly on the left, but now I see the progressive left as standing for intolerance and disregard for safeguarding. ' Only prudes and bigots raise safeguarding concerns, don't you know. Its a cover for their bigotry!'

Madhairday · 26/05/2022 09:04

Just another post to say thank you OP for doing this. I feel sick to my stomach about the content of all of this. 🤮 Thank you for standing up for child safeguarding 👏👏👏

theDudesmummy · 26/05/2022 09:44

Thanks all. The police have everything. I suppose we just have to wait to see what they do with it.

Am I imagining it or does one of the background voices at the end say ‘Will I get to meet your kids?’

Update from me. The police officer called. They have, to their credit, taken this very seriously, but they have concluded that no crime has been committed. The chap was very sympathetic on a personal level (he is a father, and he lives near to one of theatres where this was to be put on), but they cannot take any of this forward as an actual crime.

He did say that some potential crimes have been committed by people protesting against TFSS, in the form of actual physical harassment (turning up at their office, leafleting with inciting material in the street etc). It is obviously really important that we do not protest against this kind of thing in a criminal way, which just feeds into the narrative that people concerned/knowledgeable about safeguarding children are right-wing religious TERFY nutjobs. I did say to him that I am not personally aware of anyone who had done anything other than make reports to various bodies and authorities.

That's incredibly frustrating, OP. I wonder if the author of this piece in The Critic will pick up the cudgels? thecritic.co.uk/why-are-we-allowing-the-family-sex-show/

See also this piece by another journalist about sex education in schools: thecritic.co.uk/we-need-to-talk-about-sex-education/

MagnoliaTaint · 26/05/2022 12:56

Thanks for the update, OP. That is frustrating.

I'm also not aware of anyone protesting in any way other than signing petitions and writing to safeguarding bodies, etc.

MsEverywhere · 26/05/2022 14:32

I'm not surprised by the police response, but it was good to report it anyway. I do however, think that the NSPCC should have released a statement about concerns on this. That would have been more in their remit, to raise awareness of what is inappropriate. Its the Children Charities I feel let down by. There really should have commented on this.

MsEverywhere · 26/05/2022 14:32

I see they have deleted that link btw!

OhHolyJesus · 26/05/2022 15:07

Thanks for the update OP. I also reported this to the police before the last planned performance to an invite-only audience was cancelled (according to the puff piece in the Guardian).

I also wrote to DCMS to point out the safeguarding failures of the Arts Council and was advised to complain directly to the Arts Council. Their claim of taking safeguarding seriously just cannot be taken seriously.

Who gives funding to something called The Family Sex Show without making detailed checks? Who does that? I suspect they ticked the right boxes and waved it through but that doesn't cut it when it comes to children.

I'll be complaining to the Arts Council though I expect I'll get, at best, a cut and pasted reply.

have you contacted Baroness Nicholson ? She did complain to the Arts Council, and I know she will help you take this further.
Thank you - and good luck
