Sigh. Another period product company erasing women.

Unfabled, on Instagram. Helpfully suggesting we stop talking about ‘women having periods’ and say ‘people who have periods’ while at the same time banging on about destigmatising menstruation. Do these useful idiots ever stop and think about the misogyny they are unwittingly promoting?

Ruby Love do great period pants. It’s an American brand so there’s a bit of postage but as far as I’m aware they know men do t menstruate.

I hope all of these pathetic period product companies fail. If you can’t even bring yourself to say the word women you do not deserve women’s money.

Just went onto their website. Nearly fell over to see them marketing products at women, girls, daughters. How refreshing to see a website that knows who it's market is and isn't willing to pander to the madness and stupidity that others do.

All this erasure of women actually scares me. How far will it/ can it go? Is everything womanly going to be erased?
reading that back I sound an absolute idiot but I genuinely never thought I’d see that anyone other than a woman has periods. It just doesn’t make any sense.

boudicca79 · 20/05/2022 15:58

I don't Know why companies do this. Yippie and this one.

I mean 99% or thereabouts of the people buying these products are women. Why alienate your target buyers?

Why can't they say women and people who gave periods? Why just people who gave periods?

IstayedForTheFeminism · 20/05/2022 16:04

58% of people and 58% of women are not the same thing. Did they ask all people or only women (however they identify)?

33% of people in my house have felt shame over their period.
100% of women in my house have felt shame over their period.
Quite a different figure overall.

I posted on their Insta to ask precisely this. Now the page is 'not available' when I try to go to it again Confused

Funny that. All the negative comments have gone puffffft. They not have 3 clapping them.

The person managing the Inata account knows - wonder if they have fessed up to their boss?

TopKnotch · 21/05/2022 07:33

A negative comment stayed up for a bit last night!

I hate the dishonesty.

Al these companies send stuff to third world countries knowing thay women amd girls have little access to them amd girls drop out of school because of puberty and periods

They would never dare hint its something that can be identified out of or think these girls who don't even have access to something we can pick up for a quid in asda remotely give a shit about pronouns.

Its only the privileged they think they can manipulate into buying their stuff by playing along with identity nonsense. They are laughing at us. Watching how dishonest and stupid they can get away with being while we sit on our smart phones amd lap tops in our warm houses clapping along with our own erasure.

It’s the misogyny that I find frightening, including a lot that comes from women themselves. Ultimately though, it’s still factually correct that only women and girls have periods. That some of those women choose to identify as non-binary, or as trans men, doesn’t change the fact that - biologically speaking - they’re still women.

I think it’s important that we fight to retain the language of womanhood. The ideologues can only go so far though, because their arguments contain no logic: they depend on people not asking questions. They collapse like a house of cards when given any close scrutiny.

There's apparently 20 comments on that post and only 3 are visible 😂
I also hate all the faux 'why does no one ever talk about ...' marketing. The idea that until x company came along and 'opened up the conversation' no one ever dared talk about periods because it's such a shameful, dirty subject 🙄 I'm 47. I learnt all about periods from Just 17 back in the '80s thankyouverymuch 🙄

Electrox · 21/05/2022 11:42

Shame on them for trying to erase women and censoring our voices!

Mandodari · 21/05/2022 12:49

@littleburn
There is an excellent article in the Irish Independent about menstruation leave. It's behind a paywall so I can't share but I loved this quote:
"I know this goes against the entire ethos of modern middle-class feminism, which has an obsession with shouting about periods that is fringing on the bizarre. It seems that every other week a new luxe tampon subscription box, which makes lofty vows to “empower”, is launched."

Blueblisters · 21/05/2022 13:05

in my 40s too and have been reading ‘everything you need to know about periods’ type articles since my early teens. What these woke idiots are doing is nothing new. What is far more brave and refreshing is the approach of companies like Ruby Love who just get on with the business of providing good quality period products and marketing them to women and girls.

The only thing I envy about this generation is the range of products available to them. I'm old enough to remember when wings on towels were a major leap forward. Now there is a plethora of choices and a period tracking app for those not capable of remembering dates !
