Dr Erica Anderson - challenges trans activists and their closed minds

A detailed, thoughtful article by a transgender woman clinical psychologist about the harm being done to gender questioning children by current medial practices. She also openly calls out the harmful influence of trans activists in silencing medics. So many good points including the warning that some who decry conversion therapy may inadvertently be practicing a version of it by directing gender questioning proto gay young people into transgender identities
Well worth a read.

Really interesting and thoughtful article. I hope Dr Anderson is listened to.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 19/05/2022 10:41

It's an important reversal and interesting that Anderson challenges the Assistant Secretary for Health, Admiral Rachel Levine's (presumably self interested comment) that no argument' exists among medical professionals who care for adolescents 'regarding the value and the importance of gender-affirming care .'

Stating that it's not true is important in these captured times.

Dr Anderson is very courageous. Hats off.

oldwomanwhoruns · 20/05/2022 14:45

These males got us into this mess.
Now trying to do a reverse ferret because the writing is on the wall??
'Courageous' ? No. Not stunning or brave either.

JellySaurus · 20/05/2022 17:05

Pretty much what the GC feminists have been saying all long.

But, lo, a male has spoken.

OldCrone · 20/05/2022 17:24

Nothing courageous about Anderson doing a u-turn now the lawsuits are on the horizon. See also: Marci Bowers (also not courageous).

As much as I'm pissed off like PPs are because women have been shouting about this for years, I'm still glad it's getting out there in a widely-read place

I am actually glad to see the usage of 'gender questioning youth' instead of the emotive and unchallengeable 'trans youth' you see from the Democrats and TRAs

Some are speaking up as they see the law suits coming. It's still good that a transgender physician does it as she has the right identity stamp to be allowed to speak. It doesn't protect anyone completely (Debbie Hayton is called a transphobe), but those higher up on the oppression hierarchy are more able to speak out.

As an aside, has anyone else spotted how almost overnight 'transphobe' was binned and now it is 'anti-trans?' A conscious policy change?

snekkes · 20/05/2022 19:59

I suppose using 'anti-trans' negates the tired argument of 'I'm not afraid of trans people' (despite nobody thinking homophobes are afraid of gay people).

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/05/2022 20:19

I know this is on another thread but if you haven't had a chance to read it, it's a devastating letter from another doctor detailing precisely the massive harm that's happening to children world wide through unethical, unevidenced medical "treatment" . The medical profession are starting to speak out (finally) :

'Her private practice has specialized in treating transgender and gender-questioning youth.'

the money's in the bank. Now it's time to arse-cover.

oldwomanwhoruns · 21/05/2022 08:31

The sex of this person is SO important in this context. Sometimes, as Maya says, sex really matters, and I do wish that Mumsnet would allow us to 'correctly sex' a person where it is relevant and important.

Rant over.

Yes. But you have to fight fire with fire sometimes.

They seem to be starting to do the right thing now, but it's wrong to describe them as courageous when they appear to be acting out of fear of the lawsuits coming their way and will no doubt try to minimise their part in this mess.

Pluvia · 21/05/2022 10:09

There are lawsuits lining up and they're all swiftly back-tracking in the hope of saving themselves. Publishing a prominent article in something like the DM, blaming everyone in general but positioning oneself as thoughtful and different, is part of the exit strategy. They've grown rich on mutilating the bodies of confused, vulnerable young people (see the Times report today on how woke Brighton and Blackpool, home to a high proportion of looked-after children are trans-clinic referral hotspots) and now they're hoping to back away with minimal damage. No sympathy from me.

MagnoliaTaint · 21/05/2022 13:17

For sure. It's not courage, it's common or garden business sense.
