Sounds good to me.

Triotriotrio · 15/05/2022 08:13

Some sense. At last

tabbycatstripy · 15/05/2022 08:16

Good.

Hoardasurass · 15/05/2022 09:57

Well that's a sensible and fair solution that works for everyone and should be rolled out in every aspect of life where sex matters ie prisons, toilets, hospitals, rape crisis centres, refuges and most sports. It almost feels like the adults are retaking control from be kind brigade. I await the toddler style temper tantrums on twitter.

Worrysaboutalot · 15/05/2022 10:18

What a sensible and truly inclusive set of rules.
Everyone catered for and women keep their sport single sex :)

Artichokeleaves · 15/05/2022 10:20

And there we go, that's what actual inclusion and common sense looks like! I look forward to seeing the trans leagues grow.

StormyWaterCloud · 15/05/2022 10:25

Thank goodness that swimming is leading the way with a fair and practical solution.

The real test will be if the TRAs accept this, to not do so would clearly illustrate the end game is to wipe females from competitive sports via appropriation of their category.

puffyisgood · 15/05/2022 10:44

sounds sensible, though I wouldn't pretend to have any clue as to the degree of tangible influence that 'WSCA' has on the many different levels of competitive swimming that exist worldwide.

Thelnebriati · 15/05/2022 13:41

''Categorization through birth sex remains to be the most useful and functional division relative to sporting performance.''
And that is the position of both The Gender Recognition Act and the Equality Act in the UK.

I think its a more useful statement than it appears to be at first glance, as they have also given us a useful counter to the 'just have one mixed sex competition with sub leagues' argument with their explanation of how the Paralympics works.

Cheesel · 15/05/2022 15:48

Gosh. That is really clear, sensible, well written and logical. A hugely useful example for other sporting groups. Thank you WSCA

TeiTetua · 15/05/2022 17:17

This is pretty good, but I see they're accepting the term "assigned male at birth" with the implication that it's something arbitrary, so the same person could equally well have been called female. Of course the TRAs love this! I wish the organisation would say that a person's sex was "acquired at conception" instead. Or make a reference to XX versus XY chromosomes, possibly with some acknowledgement that there are a few individuals who have variant conditions.

But they end up drawing the right conclusions, which is the most important thing.
