Stonewall school champion (primary)

Hi everyone, I know there are lots of Stonewall threads (I've been reading through most of them). My kids' school is a Silver Stonewall Champion.

I've already been in touch to express my concerns, and ask whether this is something they are going to continue with (haven't had a decent response yet). My question is... then what? I have no idea what being a Silver Stonewall champion entails? i.e. what the school had to compromise on to get that recognition.... so what should my next moves be?? Would really appreciate some help! Thanks!

Perhaps start by asking them what it means and what did/ do they have to do to get the award?

Ask for all relevant information about RSE, both curricular and extra-curricular.

Stonewall are making great efforts to get into primary schools, presumably as a money making venture (according to their CEO) They hide the criteria for champion status - that usually tells you that an organisation knows they'd be criticised if they openly displayed work done with children in schools.

I'd suggest you ask the school for details of how the work they've done with Stonewall about LGBT issues compares to the work they've done with the other relevant protected characteristics? In particular disability, race, sex, religion & belief?
If the amount they've spent / hours dedicated are not comparable are the school saying that they have problems with LGBT bullying / underachievement but have no issues in relation to race, children with SEN, sexism etc? What data does the school have to justify spending so much time working with a lobby group that openly misrepresents the law, removed the rights of girls to single sex showering, changing rooms and sports, let alone one that appears to be running something akin to a protection racket (if the evidence presented in the Allison Bailey case is to be believed).

Stonewall should be nowhere near primary schools.

I agree with pp, ask lots of questions to understand the scheme, what the school is required to do and also what is being done in relation to the other protected characteristics.

Once you have this info you can then address concerns in a balanced way, I.e. taking into account other relevant protected characteristics.

You may also want to send this guidance produced by Sex Matters sex-matters.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Sex-Matters-and-Transgender-Trend-schools-guidance.pdf and they will send it to your school sex-matters.org/take-action/send-guidance-to-school/

There's a search on the ParentPower website, so one can see if local schools are signed up, may be of use to parents:

parentpower.family/stonewall-champion-schools/

No idea how up to date this is of course
