This makes me so sad. They say 'wombs' 7 times and 'women' not once

I don’t understand. My womb can’t do the plank.

FromOurHatsToOurFeet · 03/05/2022 10:18

This class is suitable for anyone with a womb or womb-space, who wants to practice with respect for its power

WOMB-SPACE?

Why is it hyphenated?

What if you don't feel the respect for the power of your womb-space?

yetanotherusernameAgain · 03/05/2022 10:18

I don't see absence of the word 'woman' as a problem. Anyone woo enough to want to "honour" their "womb or womb-space" and "wants to practice with respect for its power" is welcome to a such a class all to themselves. It probably reduces the chance of women mistaking it for a general yoga class aimed at women.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 03/05/2022 10:19

What if you don't feel the respect for the power of your womb-space?

Then don't sign up for the class.

PrelateChuckles · 03/05/2022 10:33

How does anyone know whether they have a womb or womb-space? Unless you've had reason to have it specifically examined etc, is there any way of your average person finding out?

IcakethereforeIam · 03/05/2022 10:35

I'm prepared to be generous and assume that 'womb-space' is to include women who have had a hysterectomy. However, I don't see a problem, really, with blokes joining this class as long as the changing rooms are single sex.

Tbh the language used in yoga can leave me with sprained eyes at the best of times, but that's just me. I think the exercises themselves are useful, the accompanying woo though...

CrossPurposes · 03/05/2022 10:41

In fairness they do offer this: www.theyogaforlifeproject.co.uk/bookings-checkout/hormonal-balance-workshop-for-women

Yay. Running for penises. Cycling for dicks Grin

FromOurHatsToOurFeet · 03/05/2022 10:56

I don't like being reduced to my body parts. Or the spaces where my body parts used to be.

IcakethereforeIam · 03/05/2022 11:07

@FromOurHatsToOurFeet I don't disagree with you, I think the whole premise of this class is nonsense but some people lap it up.

PierresPotato · 03/05/2022 11:09

My first thought was could it be for for women with endometriosis?

I'm intrigued as I'm no longer bewombed. Maybe it would be good for my womb space ?!

Mandodari · 03/05/2022 11:16

Can my womb go by herself or do I have to accompany her?

LeftFootForward · 03/05/2022 11:20

Maybe the whole wombs/womb-space thing is to exclude trans women from the class?

Neverreturntoathread · 03/05/2022 11:24

Not sure women who’ve had hysterectomies will particularly like being referred to as womb space.

If they want to be inclusive maybe just hold a yoga class. If they’re ok with non-inclusive then why not just hold a female yoga class?

Weird.

MrMrsJones · 03/05/2022 11:38

I have sent off an email.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 03/05/2022 11:47

I think (and I might just be trying to be generous) that they've worded it this way to make it female only. A Male who feels like a woman won't have a womb or womb space so would be excluded. Whereas if they say yoga for women then it would potentially include self identified women.

Mossstitch · 03/05/2022 11:51

@MrsOvertonsWindow 👏👏😂😂

If a male can say he feels like a woman and is taken seriously, to such a stage that womens rights are subjugated to validate his delusion, I doubt that he & his imaginary womb will be excluded.

FromOurHatsToOurFeet · 03/05/2022 11:56

He doesn't even need an imaginary womb, just a space for where he might imagine it might go.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/05/2022 11:58

I can so imagine the women from Ab Fab doing this ...

IcakethereforeIam · 03/05/2022 12:02

Actually, I thought womb-space was probably chosen to include tw and men...sorry...other men.

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 03/05/2022 12:20

Who knows what womb space means?
It could mean TW or women who have had hysterectomies, there is no clarity using this sort of deliberately valed and obscured meaning & reducing women to a single body part is just vile.

I think you might be right. It's just so frustrating that they can't just say women!

This. I don't want to be reminded of my cancer whilst doing yoga unless they are doing something specific that recognises the trauma of this (which I can't see this class is doing). In any case, there isn't actually a space afaik as everything else just shifts around!

I should think it is. Power to the bewombed and bewombspaced.
