Posted previously but as requested posting again to make clearer.

Interesting thread here written by clinician explaining frustrations in NHS at the moment along with another link for a GMC consultation where patients can give feedback....

Is this UK wide?

Rightsraptor · 01/05/2022 20:20

Thanks for posting, Badapple. I'll be doing it tomorrow.

I filled in the patient survey, it took a while and, perhaps it's my tablet, the text was tiny. Stressed that Doctors should be kind to their patients (duh!) but it was vital to collect accurate information. That they should leave their personal opinions out of it. They should follow evidence led treatment not dogma. Be honest about problems, examples I gave recent maternity, vaginally mesh and Tavistock. Also if conflict of interest they should step back. Few other things also.

I can't get the Twitter link to work - can you copy (or summarise) the post?

Manderleyagain · 01/05/2022 23:41

So are there separate sets of questions for medics and patients?

IcakethereforeIam · 02/05/2022 00:00

There are two surveys, the first I didn't look at, it said you had to create an account different from your GMC account iirc. But it said the process was simple. I got the impression though that both surveys were open to any and everyone. The survey I completed was for patients, members of the public, organisations and, I think, medics. I can't remember if you id'd yourself at the beginning, you certainly did at the end. If you did you might get a different set of questions.

@wordsandmusic it's a long thread. Twitter has hidden the opening post as being unsuitable for under 18s (it isn't) that may be why you're having problems.

Someone put it on a thread reader app. This link might work:

I started the GMC survey, but having read the new guidance I’m not finding the insidious bits in it. I think I’m usually pretty good at reading between the lines, but not in this case. Maybe I need to cross-reference it with La Scapigliata’s thread which is hard to do on the phone.

I don’t want to deal with men on female wards, or self-identification of sex among care providers. I don’t want any women to have to deal with that. But I’m not sure where to express this on the survey. Could someone who gets it possibly make a For Dummies guide on what questions on the GMC patient survey are relevant and what part of the guidance they relate to?

Rightsraptor · 02/05/2022 16:11

Just done this. It can be fairly quick if you don't make comments (as if). Plenty of scope to write lots in the boxes.

There's the usual irritating bit at the end about whether you identify with the sex you were registered at birth - yes, no, prefer not to say. What about 'I don't identify with any gender'? Not possible. But that's what the free text boxes are for. Let's tell 'em.

They do at least ask what sex you are.

alreadytaken · 02/05/2022 17:17

There is a conflict of interest and dishonesty if a male born person treats a female patient who has expressed a preference for a female doctor.

IcakethereforeIam · 02/05/2022 19:23

Wasn't there a question about Doctors experiencing abuse, prejudice, etc. (Jaysus I only filled it in yesterday). I think that's where I wrote abuse unacceptable but women/men should be able to be treated by member of the same sex for intimate treatments. It's not prejudice!
The 'wot gender ru' questions I just ignored, it didn't seem to mind.

So are there separate sets of questions for medics and patients?

And is it self-ID as to whether you're a medic or a patient?

I totally self-ID as a doctor. I mean I'm not, but I self-ID as one. Always fancied it (except for the long hours and blood, but self-ID avoids all that nasty reality).

oldwomanwhoruns · 03/05/2022 12:41

I just came to post the link to this consultation, but you have beaten me to it!

I filled in the patient questionnaire, and kept saying that we needed honesty not kindness, that doctors should not be giving patients what they demand re. Rogd or transgenderism. And female doctors when we ask for them, not transgender males.
