Where did they come from? Why do people use them instead of the normal spellings?

I've just seen a video on insta that someone I follow shared. It says they are words used by T*s to exclude TW.

But the only people I've ever known to use the alternative spellings are people who believe TWAW Confused
It's getting to the point where even "trans-allies" are going to be saying 'transphobic' things!

I find this strange because to me that X incision is a reminder of the second X chromosome that biological women have…

It drives me mad, I hate this kind of crap. Especially “folkx” and even “folks/folk” when used in a genderwoo context. I don’t remember it being used before trans ideology and pushing self-ID took off. “Transgender folx” “non-binary folk” aaargh it’s so twee and pseudo-bucolic, as if to indicate trans people are all lovely 17th-century farmers, fairies and Morris dancers who are too pure for this world. And that in itself seem like an attempt to distract us from the fetish-elevating, boundary-smashing and misogyny of it all. I don’t know if anyone else knows what I mean or if I’ve just finally lost my mind.

Love the pseudo bucolic - picturing it now 😂 No, you haven’t lost your mind. I bloody loathe that word too.

A thousand times this 👏👏 Along with the inevitable ‘y’all’, which always gets lobbed in at some point too 🙄

I pronounce it wombat .

Which rather pleasingly includes the word womb.

"...it’s so twee and pseudo-bucolic, as if to indicate trans people are all lovely 17th-century farmers, fairies and Morris dancers who are too pure for this world."

To continue the Discworld theme from @MrsTerryPratchett 's post above, this reminds me of the Elves in Lords and Ladies whose glamours make them look like beautiful beings but underneath they were...quite different.

"Folkx' and its variants are a handy reminder that this is a US import. The word always reminds me of George Bush Jnr, though he's probably ancient history to these kids. I suppose 'guys', which was in favour in social media 3 or 4 years ago, is now considered potentially misgendering and thus 'literal violence', even though it was routinely used for mixed sex and all-female groups before.

I remember some of this. When women said they didn't like to be referred to as womxn that was tough, too bad. But as soon as "the LGBTQ+ community" complained, whoosh it was gone.

I used to write and complain about that all, in a very nice and clear and evidence-based way. Never got a single response.

This happens, because female-bodied women are now the privileged sub-class in the new gender identity class 'women.' (Just think about that for a second.)

Queer theory argues that we must never pay any attention to privileged people who, indeed, may be excluded from various groupings if their presence makes the less privileged people feel unsafe. So inclusiveness often means excluding people, too. That's how we became menstruators and egg-producers and ovary-owners.

I learned about all that yesterday! The least privileged women are those who are male-bodied.

We've plunged to new depths.

A medical student reports:
In one of my medical classes, women are being referred to as "child-bearing people." I find this to be incredibly dehumanizing and dismissive of what women have endured since our existence came to be.

Womyn was in use by Feminists and Lesbians in the 60s.

Just by been watching Miriam Margolyes, and she mentioned it

yep, though impeccably well intentioned, it never really caught on and is now a historical footnote.

I hope and trust that, half a century in the future, people will be saying the same about the 2020s fad for the inclusion of pronouns in email signatures etc.
