My DC asked me if JK Rowling was transphobic. I explained why I didn't think she was & talked about why we need feminism & female only spaces.

Has anyone found any good articles/ books/ sites for kids to read about this?

Depending on age, 'My body is me' by Rachel Rooney is lovely, simple and positive. You can buy it via Transgender Trend.

I think they have a book out for tween/teens, too.

Are they old enough to read her essay. My daughter 14 has read loads of stuff. Depends on their ages.

I also showed/discussed my DC what it the operations involve - where the skin come from and the the operations can never result in a functioning body part in the way the natural body parts can.

Yes googling phallophasty is pretty grim as are pictures of breast that have been binded and the lead to mascetomy. Deforming your breast like that with binding must only make your body dysmorphia worse. Go fund me and the like have 50, 000 fundraisers for girls want to have their breast cut off. That is grim.

I think also reading about women's rights in other countries. My daughter has read I am Malala.

She's also read Trans by Helen Joyce, Irreversible Damage, Material Girls. Also Julie Bindle's latest book. I keep buying the books but don't get chance to read them and she soaks them up! But she did start from the same viewpoint as me so much easier.
