Miltant trans activists have stood outside JKRowling's home calling for her rape and murder. They have issued many death threats. Now a trans activist has written a despicable novel depicting JK's death which the trans author says features trans women who "fu*k and murder" TERFS. In case you didn't know, TERF means Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists, a term they apply to JK, a Christian, and all women who don't want to share their safe spaces with trans women (men with a fully fuctioning penis who describe themselves as women). The police have the power to seize material which incites hatred and violence. They have not arrested any of the threatening, aggressive, intimidating trans activists for their hate crimes against JK, and many other biological women, yet. If this appalls you there's a way you can help by complaining to the #MetPolice that this novel is incites violence and hatred. It's easy - use this link

to make an online report. All you have to do is say you believe this sick novel incites hatred and violence. If you look at the link below, it will tell you all you need to know about this horrific book...

I empathise. I see the hypocrisy. And, no. I will not report a book. I am content to wait for JKR to signal what she would like to see.

StopStartStop · 23/04/2022 14:02

I thought the same as you, OP. How does such a book of hate avoid being criminal? Because 'hate crime' is a thing in the UK, isn't it?

So I googled 'hate crime' just to be sure.

"protected characteristics:
race
religion
sexual orientation
disability
transgender identity."

But not sex. So it's ok to hate women, or a woman? Even if the hate and hostility is absolutely clear?

"The Law Commission has recommended that “sex or gender” should not be added to the protected characteristics for aggravated offences and enhanced sentencing as it would be ineffective at protecting women and girls and in some cases, counterproductive."

" the Commission has made a number of recommendations to provide greater protection:
Extending the offence of stirring up hatred to cover stirring up hatred on the grounds of sex or gender. This would help to tackle the growing threat of extremist misogynist “incel” ideology"

And TRA extremism, presumably.

It doesn't look as if we have a legal leg to stand on, at the moment. Women being so absolutely disregarded by UK law.

A Slightly Twisted Female on YouTube has a discussion of this book, coming up.

Sadly misogyny is not covered under hate crime legislation and, if the Met can’t be bothered to do something about one of their officers exposing himself in a fast food restaurant (Wayne Couzens), I doubt they’ll stir for rape and death threats towards JKR. Also, I’m not keen on burning books and stand by freedom of speech. I’ll not be roused to head out with a pitchfork on this occasion.

👆

Freedom of speech and thought have acquired greater importance to me as we move towards what feels like the grinding path to authoritarianism and restricted freedoms (as per Hannah Arendt's Origins of Totalitarianism).

I can think of little that GFM would like more than the free advertising of a police investigation or campaign.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 23/04/2022 14:18

I think its interesting that it is refered to as transgender identity in that list @StopStartStop .

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 23/04/2022 14:19

Nah sorry OP, I absolutely stand with JK Rowling but I’m not reporting this shitty book as a hate crime.

Also, what is the relevance of “a Christian”? Genuinely a bit puzzled by you mentioning that Confused

That stood out to me too. Is JK openly Christian? Or just culturally so?

TheBeardedVulture · 23/04/2022 14:27

Not a book burner either. This book sounds like pure shite, but freedom of speech works both ways.

that doesn’t mean we can’t criticise it for what it is though- misogyny.

WallaceinAnderland · 23/04/2022 14:59

I don't think any books should be banned. Freedom of speech is important.

This author is just showing what sort of person they are. Let them own it. Let everyone see them for who they are. Sunlight.

I think OP was listing examples of people who are described as TERFs rather than using Christian as a descriptor for JKR.

Absolutely. And in the future people will be able to see who was violent and and hateful, and who wasn't.

Agreed. I don't want to see it on school curriculums though.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 23/04/2022 16:32

It'll obviously be a pile of shit and have about 3 readers.

It's in incredibly bad taste but can't see why you'd want it banned.

Isn't the equivalent if someone wrote a novel about a republican brutally murdering the queen? It's fiction that tries to make a point but is likely to fail by being ott and tasteless. It shouldn't be investigated as hate crime though I don't think.

ResisterRex · 23/04/2022 16:48

If there's a threat to life then the police have to issue a warning to the person whose life might be in danger:

fullfact.org/law/human-rights-law-means-police-warnings-people-risk-being-killed/

If - if - this falls under such an obligation then it's already for the police to deal with.

thirdfiddle · 23/04/2022 18:26

It feels like there ought to be something illegal about fictionalising horrible violence against real people. I'm not sure what offence exactly. Who published this trash, or is it self published? Surely must be seriously frowned on in publishing world to put out something so crass.

ArcheryAnnie · 23/04/2022 18:35

There have been cases where men who have written really violent fiction depicting the murder of real named women have been prosecuted.

If this author gets prosecuted, I won't cry for them, but neither would I advocate banning. This author has shown us all exactly who they are.

I really hope JKR has someone else ploughing through this vile stuff on her behalf. She's had to deal with so much fucking nonsense from unhinged arseholes.

MargaritaPie · 23/04/2022 19:45

"Miltant trans activists have stood outside JKRowling's home calling for her rape and murder"

Have they? Did this happen recently?
