She signed the letter by Foucault advocating for the abolition of the age of consent laws. So she is just as pro pedophile as he is.

In the 1970s number of famous thinkers and writers argued that the age of consent was about young people’s right to a sexual life, which was why they and others supported legal changes (some of them argued that it was to harmonise the age of consent to sex for heterosexuals, gays and lesbians in some countries alongside the harmonisation of the age of consent to some sex acts where these were written into the penal code).

I do not understand their failure to anticipate what this might be used to legitimise and the civil liberties wash that it gave to CSA and CSE.

Yes it is. Now I know I’m losing the plot. I could blame baby brain but it’s 20 years too late. Now I can go and read the stranger again.

Personally I find de Beauvoir unreadable and she was a bit of a doormat so as the "great man" Sartre.

And , like Ash Sarkar, she is another who has the luxury of spouting that she was a Communist/ Marxist/ whatever , knowing she'll either (a) never be tested as to what living under such a regime would be like or (b) if it were to happen would have her nose in the trough at the top table.
