I'd really like to get involved in some proper campaigning. How can I help? Is woman's place the organisation to get involved with? Twitter is fine but feels like shouting into the void!

Somebody may be able to suggested organisations with some local networks.

FiLiA is worth attending if you can and you should meet people there.

Standing for Women is setting up local groups.

Needaholidayplease · 17/04/2022 20:54

Thanks will take a look at those! Tried to join the FB local resisters group but I'm still pending, so wanted to know if there was anything else out there. Will check out filia for sure

Sex Matters has regular calls to action and suggestions for campaigning (they have some now).

Look up your local ReSisters group, possibly?

Huh?!

"I believe the changes which gender ideology activists are trying to push into our laws and practice - without scrutiny or debate - are regressive and harmful.

Trade unions and civil rights movements have shown that there is strength in numbers, and so I'd like to join with like-minded people to campaign to keep existing legal protections for women and children."

There, fixed that for you.

There are lots of things you can do. You don't need to be at mass protests or xnyghing. These are some of the things I've done over the last four years or do.

  1. Checked out school policies to ensure they use sex not gender. Look at Equality and Bullying policies.
  2. Got involved with consultation with schools for Relationship and Sex Education.
  3. Sent school the Let clothes be clothes school uniform report. They used this at a staff training day when discussing how not to police girl's school uniform.
www.letclothesbeclothes.co.uk/girls-school-uniform-report-2021
  1. Sent schools the commentary by Safe Schools Alliance on the CASS Review. safeschoolsallianceuk.net/2022/03/26/the-cass-review-into-gender-identity-services/
  2. Wrote to all my local councillor candidates as part of the Respect my sex campaign.
  3. Attended Woman's Place meeting, Oxford Feminists meeting, Standing for Women speakers corner in Nottingham. And met local women to join up with.
  4. Bought loads of merch from Wild Woymn, Adult Human Female Store, Filia, Jess de Wahls etc. And got an informal complaint against me at work for wearing an woman definition lanyard.
  5. Bought Milli Hill's period book and all of Robert Galbraith books
  6. Bought loads of feminist books
10. Attended the Detrans Awareness seminar. 11. Donated to many crowdfunders 12. Complaints to BBC, and others 13. Thank you emails and postcards to those who support and defend women. 14. Quietly talking to those I know to raise awareness. 15. Joined the Equality, Diversity and inclusion group at work!

Next on my to do list is to tackle my local council who use gender identity in place of sex in all their policies.
1st May meet with women to enjoy a JK Rowling inspired women who lunch!
26 June is Speakers Corner with Kelly Jay Keen.
Hope that helps.

I managed to get in contact with some amazing women I interacted with on twitter. As someone said standing for women is organising local groups. The London meet ups are supposed to be really friendly and amazing but I’ve not made it to one yet.

She said she's 'pending' with them. For unfortunate obvious reasons, these small local groups have to be wary of accepting people they don't know.
SeanChailleach · 18/04/2022 07:41

I was thinking of asking mothers I know round to my house for coffee and starting from there.

PatsArrow · 18/04/2022 07:45

I joined my local WRN (Womens Rights Network).

The day to day chat is a private Twitter group but we have met up a few times as a group and it's so valuable and enjoyable. Many of us are off to a WPUK talk soon.

Yes, this - most groups I know have a vetting procedure. We have to.

Needaholidayplease · 18/04/2022 07:59

Thanks for your suggestions I'll have a look. Yep totally understand the need for caution on the FB groups etc. Unfortunately I WFH and don't have much of a feminist network so have to rely on the internet for a lot of this kind of knowledge. Will check out all your suggestions, thanks! X
