Not sure if this has already been covered.

It moves from medicalisation to supporting gender dysphoric young people through psychotherapy, allowing them to explore 'why' they feel this way.

I would like to see us move to this model.

Thanks for all of that in one place Nec. V useful.

That article is heartbreaking littl.

I just watched the video. It seems that the treatment centres around Sweden all reacted differently to previous recommendations with some halting puberty blockers and some carrying on with business as usual. Do these new recommendations have the weight to force those continuing with business as usual to rethink their policies? My suspicion is that it will take more court cases before there is enough pressure to guarantee real change in some of these establishments.

When one of the treatment centres was questioned about the case of "Leo" and his bone density issues, an individual doctor said that the family should have been informed about this known risk. Instead of raising an incident report about the injuries resulting from the poor healthcare given, the centre instead raised an incident report about the alarmist misinformation given by the doctor who indicated this was a known risk.

I think some of these establishments have too many skeletons to risk admitting there is even a closet.

[quote ResisterRex]Is this development linked to this documentary?

I watched that. One of the doctors stated that puberty blockers (in children) are the equivalent to chemical castration.

From the other side of the argument - but discusses in detail how far it will affect clinical practice, it being 'clinical guidelines' rather than law.

puberty blockers (in children) are the same drugs as used for chemical castration

In this area calling things by their right names would help considerably. See also "top surgery", "cis-woman", etc.

Very positive news, I hope that Sweden documents all this change clearly so it creates a proper evidence base for the outcomes of watch and wait and pushes other countries to follow the same path.

Although I knew this, its just striking me afresh and taking hold in my head.

They're chemically castrating children before they complete puberty because of an ideology.

It seems like eugenics. How is it not eugenics?

The goal in eugenics is to increase or decrease certain types of dna or characteristics in the population. I don't think that is the goal here.
Tiphaine · 15/04/2022 23:40

GNC, autistic, lesbian, gay, and Looked After children are all over represented in referrals to GIDS. Disrupting their ability to reproduce is going to have an effect as though eugenics was the aim.
