According to this, the Tavi has been moved into 3 out of 4. Looks like 4 is the lowest ranking.

"NEW: Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is now subject to enhanced oversight from the NHS. It follows its Gender Identity Development Service being rated inadequate by CQC in January 2021 and an independent governance review finding several areas requiring improvement.

The arrangements came into place on April 1st, with the Tavistock moving into a category which requires a ‘Coordinated support package and enhanced oversight.’ It had previously been subject to the lowest possible oversight. Move is confirmed by the NHS North Central London CCG.

NHSEI allocates 213 hospital trusts in England to one of four segments: 'from no specific support needs (segment 1) to a requirement for mandated intensive support (segment 4).' 15 Trusts are in segment 4. The Tavistock joins 65 others in segment 3.

Frances O’Callaghan, Chief Executive Designate of the North Central London Integrated Care Board, said: “We are committed to working closely with the Trust to agree a clear action plan that will address current issues and support the delivery of high-quality care.”"

IIRC Barnes is the Newsnight reporter who has pursued the Tavistock story.

Well done, Hannah Barnes. She and Deb Cohen have been remarkably diligent in this story and contributing to this progress.

Does that mean they've now started keeping data?
Have they now got evidence about the long term impact of all these off label drugs they're using on children's growing bodies?
Wonder if the treatment is still experimental?
Have they found some ethical theories about the over 4,000% increase in teenage girls deciding they don't want to be women?
Wonder if they've prised away the claws of the middle aged men who've had so much influence on the healthcare of vulnerable children in order to validate their own middle aged decisions? (weaponising children for their own agenda was the phrase the Observer newspaper used if I recall correctly) ?

I wonder Hmm

No matter how much jubilation there was over the Bell vs Tavistock (it is so easy to accidentally type "Travesty") decision in the Court of Appeal, this is the outcome in practical terms: some of the ways the Tavistock was operating are now discredited because the evidence base for carrying out life-changing experimental treatments on children is wholly inadequate, and the relevant people know, and they know that others know.

Yes, exactly. Sunlight is generally good, whatever the result.

Oh dear has someone let the adults into the room

PrelateChuckles · 13/04/2022 14:00

Pfft, we all know enhanced oversight is transphobic...

Jerabilis · 13/04/2022 14:38

The adults are definitely in the room, although it’s worth noting that the segmentation change is more about the wider governance concerns at the trust, rather than GIDS specific.

Anyone interested in that needs to keep following the Cass review work and the actions to be taken by the NHS England National Specialist Commissioning team.
