Suggestion I've seen on Twitter from History Woman Who Won't Wheesht.

OK, so it looks like we're going for May the 1st, May Day, Beltane, for our #JKLadiesLunch, it's traditionally a day to celebrate fertility. We can also use it to send a message to UK politicians before the 5th May local elections. Have whatever lunch takes your fancy - pub lunches, picnics whatever, and post pictures on SM with the #JKLadiesLunch hashtag. You can even have your lunch in during the previous week but post your pictures on May the 1st. Choose your own charity to support and post about it with the tag too.

Various names and tags may be in use. Not all happy with the word 'Ladies'. Key thing, though, I would say, is lunch [A Greedy Person writes: Quite right too], and ideally a reference to J. K. Rowling and women/female. Might usefully be combined with the #RespectMySex tag(s), given it's just before a lot of elections round the UK.

Fab idea, I'll hopefully get together with my new real life friends who I have met because of standing up for women's rights. Will be fab to show all the grassroots women naughtily having a lunch and talking!

Bit of a tangent, but does anyone still call lunch dinner?

I don't. I'm confident with breakfast and have plumped for lunch as the name for the midday meal, but all confidence evaporates when it comes to naming the evening meal. It's not formal enough to be dinner, supper is not a word I like for some reason, and I can't call it tea as that's not what it is (we did call it tea when I was growing up, but that's because it was high tea, main course, washed down with tea, followed by bread and butter, cakes etc). Generally avoid the issue and don't give it a name at all!

I use/have used different names for the evening meal.

When my children were younger, and when I worked as a nanny, I’d invite children over for tea.
If we’re going out, it’s for dinner.
At home, we’ve always called it supper.

No hard and fast rules necessary for (IMO) a trivial matter. I’d adapt my language according to who I am talking to.

As for the lunch idea - I shall put my thinking cap on!
