any questions

towards the end of the programme there's a question on gender.
I've never heard such uniformly evasive answers, focussing heavily on 'be kind' and 'take the heat out of the debate'.
Very very depressing.

No discussion. What a surprise.

This has definitely happened before.

I might have shouted at the radio quite a bit. Blah blah be kind, calm discussion, safe to live own lives - sport seemed to be the only possible fly in the ointment. Not one mention of schools, hospital wards and the possibility of being raped in one, women's prisons ditto. Although the question asked was fairly general (and even so, they all tried not to answer it).

Agree it was infuriating although both any answers and any questions normally has a completely biased audience so it is not a surprise

A few years ago I was firmly corrected for suggesting that the Any Questions? audience is selected by the broadcaster according to various criteria. The audience, I was assured, is whoever turns up.
I'm not saying that means it isn't biased in some way or another.

I confused it with Question Time which at that time had a process for audience selection involving filling in a questionnaire. I don't know if that is still the case.

I heard Any Answers? yesterday and when it came towards the end, Anita Anand chose to focus on the Downing Street parties. This left no time for sex and gender identity, which tells us where the priorities lie. The scent of some party political drama or government scandal is irresistible.

Roger Bolton suggested on Feedback the other day that there seems to be a sense of nervousness among top people at the BBC about discussing sex and gender identity. I'm thinking that's probably an understatement.

it's odd, because, the the run-up to the programme, she said that it would be covered. But, as others say, this has happened before.

I am of a mind that so very much in the world is in a state of turmoil.....
Why are sooo many people perplexed by what and who they are......
I do feel a lot of their tribulations are connected to how they were raised.....
There is soooo much unrest, unhappiness and dissatisfaction for a lot of people........I am sooooo disapionted that famine and thirst, have not been erased...that housing, schooling , The NHS, and all the other necessities of life are not freely and easily available for all......
Why have we not been able to eradicate all the pain and sorrow..............

But what is really annoying me is all this nonsense about trans people....oh yes that is certainly going to make the world a better place........NOT....hmm Hmm
