Gussie at Alloa

I am a great fan of Elaine Miller (Gussie Grips), not least because I finally realised how to do my pelvic floor exercises properly, and so far so good.

This is her speech from the Alloa Women's Festival earlier in the month. It covers women's biology, aging and hormones, however they identify.

It is as kind and compassionate as anyone could wish for. It is also very well informed. I listened twice last night and am off to listen again. A great communicator.

She's doing a show at the Edinburgh Fringe called Viva Your Vulva.

That would be a good mumsnet night out.

I loved this. A lot of important points at the beginning about how incontinence affects women, and how no one takes it seriously.

I also really liked her use of Dworkin's quote that feminism is for all women, even ones that you don't like, to say that feminism is for all women, even the ones that don't like us. So all those young women who are dosing themselves on testosterone and putting their lives at risk: we are here to help them too. We care about what they're doing to their bodies even if they don't.

What a fantastic talk. She's so funny and engaging and genuinely cares about the health of women, even if some hate her for it. I do hope she manages to open a care home that is women-only one day.

I went on one of her walking tours last year. Learned and laughed a lot. Looking forward to attending her fringe show.

Oh, how strange...I was on a thread on the Menopause board the other day talking about pelvic floor exercises, was racking my brain trying to remember the mumsnetter who was evangelical about pelvic floor exercises and here she is!

Elaine is brilliant. So warm , compassionate and a bloody good laugh.

I am just watching her Glinner interview now and she is wonderful! Will have to watch the speech next.

Someone close to me is a medic who signs on (at least publicly) to genderism. I think Elaine’s approach just has to speak to that person.

Her talks are brilliant and the Alloa one is first class.

I got tickets for her fringe show about vulvas. If it's not got a green, white and purple vulva in it I'll be gutted.
