Wow, good for Denmark!
tillykke Danmark

Brilliant news. I wonder if our MPs can go in a fact finding mission.

Narutocrazyfox · 27/03/2022 09:49

Incredible!

FrancescaContini · 27/03/2022 09:51

Incredible that this should be something to celebrate, but here we are. Thanks, Danish government.

Aretina · 27/03/2022 09:55

One can hardly believe that this is necessary, and yet here we are.

I wonder how it is living in Denmark?

Yes. I mean, science & fact should be enough to go on right?!

Perhaps we should all let our MP's know about Denmark's action?

They also recognise gender claims.

'X' passports are available. There's a 6 month waiting period to legally change your sex. Transgenderism is separate from mental illnesses.

But of course there are only two sexes and they are right.

I saw this though tweet that makes it seem less of a victory?

I'd be delighted if they were stating the biological fact that humans cannot change sex. But I fear they are allowing males to call themselves women, and females men. No win at all, if that's the case.

The second remark about Danish law re sex presentation makes it sound like the statement about there being two sexes is addressing the concept of non-binary.
Helleofabore · 27/03/2022 22:44

Weren’t the Danish one of the first to allow males into female prisons but then changed back to single sex prison. I could well be wrong

JellySaurus · 27/03/2022 22:51

What is a woman, according to the Danes?

It is all very well them saying that there are only two sexes, women and men, but if they allow men to legally identify as women, then it makes no difference. They are still subjugating women to men's wishes. They are still erasing women.

JellySaurus · 27/03/2022 22:54

Is Danish one of the languages without separate words for sex and gender? Has something been lost in translation here?

This isnt anything for you to celebrate.

People can legally change sex in Denmark. They would be protected by whatever laws protect the sex they change into. Denmark and their government support people changing sex. They're just saying that they're not going to make legislation for all the hundreds of sexes that certsing activist insist there are.

There are saying that there are 2 sexes and you can legally change your sex so you're either male or female but you dont need to be born into it. You can change. Not sure what you're all celebrating.

Or a cervix finding one……. Grin

“Good grief Carruthers, this woman doesn’t appear to have a cervix, what am I supposed to make of that? Really? A man? Well that’s a damn strange state of affairs, not what it says in my Stonewall briefing paper at all.”

tabbycatstripy · 28/03/2022 11:01

'There are saying that there are 2 sexes and you can legally change your sex so you're either male or female but you don't need to be born into it. You can change. Not sure what you're all celebrating.'

In a world where we're being fed all sorts of rubbish about sex being a spectrum, or it being disregarded as a material reality altogether, it's a start.

Circumferences · 28/03/2022 20:53

Yes I also thought Denmark were one of the first to legally allow anyone to self-ID, so this isn't actually a victory at all. Only that you can self Identify between two choices, not hundreds.

Not so great but it's a start and it means any Danish women fighting it are only dealing with the one thing. It's narrowed the field of insanity a little.
TheCurrywurstPrion · 29/03/2022 05:46

Lars Boje Mathiesen highlights the debate about the transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, who has won a sea of competitions in women's swimming.

"It is quite fair that he sees himself as a woman. But the unreasonable arises when others have to adapt to what is happening now, "he says.

This suggests that at least one politician in this debate can see that there are problems with being able to legally change sex, but it’s impossible to gauge whether this is one single politician speaking out in the face of the normal sea of incoherence or whether there’s some real progress being made towards recognizing that allowing men to self-ID as women is problematic.

It is interesting though, that it is perhaps being recognized that making laws around multiple “genders” is possibly too complex (and maybe it is becoming apparent that such groupings are ultimately meaningless).

@JellySaurus

Yes, Danish doesn't have separate words for sex / gender.

From the article, the question was asked in connection with a bill going through parliament. The bill deals with changes in several laws, which among other things should ensure "a more equal gender distribution in recruitment to boards of directors in companies."

Lars Boje Mathiesen (politician from a more right-wing party) said: "I think that it is an important question because we can now legislate from a consensus that there are two sexes. That is to say, that the legislation will not cover other sexes, and that we don't risk creating legislation which doesn't require special treatment of people who think of themselves as something other that the two sexes" (I'm not sure I've totally understood his repeated use of "not" here)

Is it a problem, that some people perceive themselves as something other than a man or a woman?

"No, it's not a problem. It becomes a problem, if they force the outside world to regard them as something other than a man or a woman." said Lars Boje Mathiesen.

So it is just saying they're not going to legislate for non-binary, gender fluid, catgender, otherkin etc etc etc when setting targets for sex distribution on boards. Nothing stopping transwomen from being counted as part of the "women" quota.

JellySaurus · 29/03/2022 15:33

*Is it a problem, that some people perceive themselves as something other than a man or a woman?

"No, it's not a problem. It becomes a problem, if they force the outside world to regard them as something other than a man or a woman." said Lars Boje Mathiesen.*

So it is unreasonable for a male human being to expect to be treated as something he patently is not a bi-gender human being, but it is reasonable for a male human being to expect to be treated as something he patently is not a female human being.

Can they not see the complete and utter incoherence of this position?
