Delighted to see this finally picked up in the mainstream media. Non disclosure of payments made to directors is very serious, given the signing directors have to give written undertaking to their auditors they've disclosed all relevant info. Phillips is a chartered accountant and one of the signing directors, there is no excuse whatsoever. There needs to be an investigation as to whether this was an isolated incident. I know where my thoughts lie.

They have also failed to file accounts.

PearPickingPorky · 22/03/2022 13:45

Oh well that is very surprising.

purplepizzabunny · 22/03/2022 14:56

I can't see how they'll get 2020 filed in time now, even if the accounts themselves are final. If I were their auditor (who also signed off on 2017 through to 2019) I'd be asking a few tough questions about why they failed to get truthful representations from the directors. Plus my own view is there is a likelihood revenue will take the view these payments should have been processed through payroll, and employers PRSI paid. So there's a tax implication as well. I am aware the revenue and the ODCE (Office of Director of Corporate enforcement) have been notified of all this, plus the ongoing governance issues regarding filing delays

Hmm...there seems to be a discrepancy with these expenses Fr.Crilly..

irishfeminist · 22/03/2022 18:55

They are immensely good at grifting - they're all over the corporate gravy train with the talks and "training" as well as the NGO/public sector gigs. Not to mention the donations from who knows where. I wouldn't be surprised if they're raking in so much cash that the extent of their government funding is called into question.

Abhannmor · 22/03/2022 22:44

Indeed. I wonder if more than one government is involved.

purplepizzabunny · 22/03/2022 22:52

Whatever money they get in they're burning through it, they're carrying negative reserves.

Where on earth is it all going? It's pretty unusual to have negative reserves isn't it? This is all very curious.

TENI win prestigious Mná na hÉireann Women of Ireland award24
05/10/2019 10:25DublinCrone

And so it begins in Ireland. As they, shit is getting real.

TENI were one of 6 groups that one the award gcn.ie/teni-win-mna-na-heireann-award/

They were one of six groups who won the award. The six groups will get, among other things:

*Cash grants for three years.
*A bespoke business supports package designed to equip not for profit organisations to expand their business acumen, drive growth and deepen their impact.
*A place on Social Innovation Fund Ireland’s Accelerator programme which provides training from best-in-class experts across the private, not for profit and public sectors.
*Access to Social Innovation Fund Ireland’s networks.

"The Mná na hÉireann, Women of Ireland Fund www.socialinnovation.ie/mna-na-heireann-fund/ is a €1.8 million fund over three years created by Social Innovation Fund Ireland in partnership with Bank of America and the Department of Rural and Community Development. The Department of Rural and Community Development provides match funding for all philanthropic funds raised by Social Innovation Fund Ireland, via the Dormant Accounts Fund.

The Mná na hÉireann, Women of Ireland Fund is the first fund in Ireland to support charities and social enterprises that seek to enhance the economic mobility of women, and is designed specifically to equip these organisations to expand their business acumen, drive growth and deepen their impact across Ireland."

Having come across many women who were forced out of the workplace due to caring responsibilities, TENI getting taxpayer funding to support transwomen (many of whom only transitioned late in life after building up a successful career as a male) never fails to bring out the rage in me. It was reported they've pulled their funding though due to the governance issues.

purplepizzabunny · 28/03/2022 11:39

Regarding the financials, while I trained as an auditor I'm out of practice for over 20 years and never signed off accounts, but I do deal with auditors as part of my role. TENI seem to get away with major compliance failings that no reputable company would permit so I'm loath to say for sure. But my own views are , that however it came about, it's definite that incorrect information was given to their auditors (they still have the same auditors as in 2017). If it wasn't deliberate, it's extremely negligent that the signing director failed to disclose "consultancy payments". It begs the questions too on the ethics of TENI appointing their board to consultancy positions given directors serve in a voluntary capacity. So I can't imagine any auditor signing off 2020 till there's a full review of what transactions may have been "missed" in prior years.

They have now lost their HSE funding. This is great news.

Is that 'will not receive grants in future' funding, or 'removing a previously allocated grant' funding? Just out of interest.
I can't see the article.

My post was deleted for signposting one of the various websites where people save articles for posterity. It's where I read it.

Teni has refused to answer queries over the past two weeks and no accounts have been filed. The HSE said it “has not received any correspondence from Teni by the deadline specified. Funding will now be suspended. We are corresponding with Teni to request an urgent meeting.”

I guess that means they were expecting more cash and now won't get it? Grants are often awarded in stage payments.

purplepizzabunny · 04/04/2022 09:01

It could well mean that it's only temporary until the accounts are filed. And it's the second time they've frozen funding. They need to do a full internal review and hopefully the office of Corporate enforcement and the revenue are also investigating. I've noticed both of my concerns

5 full time staff and almost one and a half million pounds (at least) for a population of fewer than 2 million?
I wonder how that funding relates proportionally to other minority groups.

Thank you, @Clymene.
