How to write sports club trans inclusion policy?

I'm the welfare Officer for my kids sports club and we have been asked to discuss trans inclusion and how we write a policy. Our governing body has some material but when I last looked it had been taken down for revision. My first thought was ' I'll resign if I have collude with women and girls being erased in our sport' but my second one was I need to work with people to help them understand the issues. There are no trans people in the club so far. It's triathlon so pretty easy to see what sex everyone is! Any tips on how to tackle this sensitively? I'm going to ask the governing body for their guidance.

It's more difficult for disabled people to access sports facilities than it is to write a poster saying "We have sex segregated spaces. Tough shit. Deal with it"

Where has this request come from? It would be useful from your perspective to understand their motivations.

From a legal obligations perspective, you could indeed review your policies to ensure they comply with the Equality Act and review the provisions for inclusion across all 9 protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. Perhaps with a view to assessing the needs of various groups in terms of your sport, reviewing participation of these protected groups versus estimated potential members who may feel excluded or be excluded due to inadequate access provisions.

However, if the request is to write a policy on which category trams athletes can compete in and with what restrictions... I think this will unfortunately have to come from the national body.

These are age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
