I've just watched it. Yes, parts of it are harrowing.
Trigger warning story of a 12 year old who takes her own life at 43 - 53 minutes approx.
It's evident that schools do not take the issue seriously and when girls do report assault, either to the police or the school, they are not supported. In almost every story covered in the documentary the girls were afraid to speak up for fear that they would be blamed or not believed.
There was quite a lot of discussion about the role porn plays in rape culture but it seemed clear to me that male entitlement came before exposure to porn. There was particular emphasis on the increasingly violent nature of porn. It covered a program to educate boys but some of them seemed under the impression that women needed to be responsible for educating them. The boys appeared to appreciate porn depicted sex in an unrealistic way but there was a hint that some of them actually believed some women enjoyed sex which was violent.
Jess Phillips makes an appearance and states that our education must start before children have even had the opportunity to view porn. I agree with her on this because it seemed so apparent that whilst teenage boys understood the concept of objectification they didn't seem to grasp girls are fully human just like them.
