It's women not cervix-havers in this BBC article

Maybe it because it is about menopause, HRT and vaginal dryness that women are just called women here: Vaginal HRT product could be available over the counter www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-60227881

It's not the glamourised bit of being female and I don't think anyone wants to appropriate it.

It wouldn't be the same if the conversation was about periods, pregnancy and issues that affect youthful women.

I wonder if HRT will be available over the counter to, ahem, everyone?

It is creams and pessaries containing oestrogen that will be available, rather than the high dose transdermal patches used for cross-sex hormones.

These are topical products of which very little is absorbed into the blood (about the equivalent of one tablet per year of average HRT that women take).

Louise Newson was on the radio this morning saying that this was a very safe thing to use, about 80% of women suffer urogenital effects with menopause, yet viagra, which is much less safe, is available over the counter for men.

No, sweet summer child, menopause is highly prized in many AGP males, like PMT and period cramps, it's something these males demand to experience too.

I'm hopeful the language used in this article is done so because the BBC are finally reading the fucking room.

You're right, I am innocent of these things. If someone wants to appropriate my perimenopausal brain fog, aching joints and palpitations they can go right ahead as long as I don't have to have them.

I suspect it is more about acknowledging that their experiences of these bodily functions are valid without actually having them.
