www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60019251

Details of the ages or genders of the pair arrested in south Manchester on Sunday evening were not revealed.

...

any grown up news sources reporting the sex of the detained ?

Thank fuck they weren't on the run, eh ? How on earth would we know what to look for ?

Is there a word for news reporting which leaves you less well informed after reading it than before ? (I imagine "Story in the papers" already covers most cases ....)

I’m sure it’s important for us all to find out wether they were feeling masculine or feminine at the time they were arrested, but yes I’d also like to know their sex (though I’d put money on my guess).

I noticed that line and rolled my eyes. Again

Yes I heard this on R4 this morning. Can’t they say ‘sex’?

I'm assuming it's to protect the identity of those arrested? Child protection related not gender woo.

As in I think rough ages were initially reported and presumably they then thought oh fk.

Either way, it's "sex", not "gender".

Yes yes but at first I thought this was going to be another 'male rapist who identifies as a laydee' story but it's not. I think there's good reasons here to give more anonymity in the reporting.
